“Terribly Sunday lunch”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

Went to the pub with a group of 5 and not only was the food distinctly average they managed to forget a main course so my friend had to wait an extra 20mins for his main. There was then a complete lack of awareness and from the waiter that this was poor service. When we then asked to speak to the manager we were told the manger was not available. Rubbish service with very average overpriced food!

“Fabulous garden in the heart of Balham”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Fantastic menu, good beer selection, HUGE interior for casual or more "formal" (sit down at a nice table) dining. And the rear garden is gorgeous! Good wifi, great staff, great location.

“Overpriced and dreadful service”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

I visited The Devonshire yesterday with 7 friends for lunch in the sunshine. What an error! On arrival, there were around five people waiting at the bar and it still took close to 20 minutes to be served. Not because the orders were long but because the staff were clueless and completely spaced out! When it came to ordering food, it took around 30 minutes to get to the bar to place an order but this wasn't where the fun ended. An hour later, the first two dishes of eight arrived...stone cold. There was no sign of anything else. The two burgers were sent back and reappeared half an hour later, on different plates but having simply been heated up in a microwave. It was at this point that the first of us demanded our money back. I say demanded because it took some pushing as the utterly useless 'manager' was all of a fluster and totally unable to cope due to the complete lack of organisation. Ten minutes later, two more dishes arrived, one of which was totally the wrong order. When asked what was going on with the other four dishes, we were told by the 'manager' that the orders had quite simply 'disappeared'. Once again, we demanded our money back.

It is such a huge shame that the service, food and staff let the Devonshire down so much. The pub itself is beautiful and the beer garden sunny and spacious but I simply wouldn't bother going in the future and would advise others to avoid it at all costs!

“Nice pub, good food”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Nice pub and good food. It's comfortable and cosy, yet quite large so you can usually get a seat. It has a large outside area as well which is unusual in London!

“Lovely lovely place”
Reviewed 26 February 2014 via mobile

This pub is lovely! Popped in for a pint in the week and so pleased we tried the place. Lovely atmosphere , decoration beautiful and very clean! Served by a polite young chap- must be new at the job as seemed to be struggling but to be fair once he gets some training he will be ship shape. Will certainly be returning and looking forward to it!
