A dreadful room which was totally unacceptable.Bathroom facilities were apalling and so were the facilities in the room itself. I am not sure whether the electrics were up to standard and there were not enough power points available.

Room Tip: this is a dreadful hotel and I suggest any traveller should view the room before making payment. I have since complained to the management but have not had the courtesy of a reply. This in itself says it all. Avoid Capilon hotels although in fairness I have not stayed at any of the others.

First, the positive aspect of the Jenkins Hotel is its location. It is less than a five minute walk from both the Euston and Kings Cross train and Underground stations. The British Museum is about a 10 minute walk. There are also plenty of good restaurants in this pleasant neighborhood. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the location. The breakfast was average. The room temperature was rather warm, and turning down the radiators did not help. The bathroom was incredibly small, and the shower was even smaller. To make the bathroom situation worse, the flimsy shower curtain would not stay in place very well, causing the bathroom floor to get wet. I did not expect plush accommodations, but for the price, I did expect better.

We stayed there for two night with our little baby. They give us a room on the second floor without lift, which was not ideal. The breackfast and reception was in the nearby judd hotel, across the road. The maintenance and the status of the hotel was poor...uneven walls, floors, stairs, very old forniture, carpets and beds. The cleaning was good though. The breakfast was essential, with only bacon, sousages and poached eggs (that where coming out from the kitchen every 10 min, but only two or three each time...I had to wait a lot for one egg), cereals and toastes. No bread, croassant, yogurt, fruits or mushroom!
The room was noise for the people walking upstairs. The toilet was a very small premade cabine, without window, with a tiny door, wc and shower. The window of the room (single glasing) didn't close properly, so there was a draft of air coming from outside.
The location is very good, but I would not choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: Not the room 9

We stayed at Jenkins for 6 nights in April. The hotel had been OK when we stayed there a few years ago and expected it to be the same. Unfortunately it wasn't. It had been taken over by the adjacent Judd Hotel and has deteriorated.

A good example of the lack of interest in the property was that the owners had not bothered to replace the very old analogue TV in the room even though the analogue signal was discontinued. Maintenance appeared to be a thing of the past - the toilet window did not close properly and let in a substantial draught, the mirror light didn't work, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, the heating in the building was turned off even though it was still very cold outside.

The only 3 positives were that the breakfast was adequate, although it was served in the Judd dining room across the road, the staff were friendly and the location was great.

We won't stay at Jenkins again but will find a better option in the Cartwright Gardens area.

Dear “Marina D”
Thank you very much for posting your experience at Jenkins hotel on Tripadvisor.
As you mentioned in your review that we have taken over the Jenkins hotels
A lot of old guests are still returning to the Jenkins hotel. We have started to make a significant positive difference in the property. We still offer the same facilities as was offered under the previous management with 24/7 hot water and heating in each room along with private bathroom, televisions etc. The English breakfast is served across the road at the Judd hotel and absolutely loved by the hotel guests from Judd and Jenkins hotel as mentioned by other reviewers on various internet sites. Price clearly reflects the demand in the area.
One of the areas the hotel management and the staff take an immense pride is the customer service we provide to our hotel guests and staff are not harassed by any mean as they have been working with the company for many years.
Just for your information, when we bought the Jenkins hotel all of the staff from the Jenkins hotel were offered employment with us.
