“beware of surly night staff”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

While most staff could not be more pleasant, be ware if your luck is to encounter the most surly of staff I have personally encountered in all of England - v sweary. Most unpleasant and obviously not the correct career choice.
Also beware if your phone is missing-said staff may have taken it to the staff room where there are no cameras, having denied he found it. Strongly recommend security software - as we recovered phone when a picture was sent of the staff in posession.

Room Tip: beware of nightclub across the road

This hotel is situated near Blackfriars Bridge, walking distance to central London. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, clean and the pub was great. Would recommend.

I was a little disappointed when I initially saw our room -- and the "view" of the back of other buildings -- but it turned out to be decent. Room was clean, a bit outdated, but comfortable. The pub downstairs was a big plus, and the location is pretty good too.

This hotel is ideally situated close to the South entrance to Blackfriars railway station and five minutes walk from the river Thames, so is a good base for exploring the South Bank area of London. It has a pub below it which serves a good selection of real ales (Fullers brewery) and also does great bar food. It is nice and clean with friendly staff so I would recommend staying here if you need somewhere as a base.

Stayed here as part of a tour. Hotel was very nice. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The location was convenient to the sites of London. The attached restaurant is nice. We were pleased with the facility.

Hotel facilities are passable with most things covered, location is fine for business stay although the rear view is very poor showing a number of derelict building and the kitchen entrance.Stairs are steep and could cause an issue to elderly.Bar is good and the selection and quality off beer is fine.

We didn't stay in the hotel but stopped for refreshments after a visit to Tate Modern. The location is great. The decor in the pub is very inviting, seating is comfortable and an excellent selection of whiskies! It looks well maintained, it is clean and bright as are the loos. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel reviews are good here so I would definitely consider it for our next visit to London.
