“The pub is not wonderland but is nice”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

The Mad Hatter is located within walking distance of Westminster Bridge, but far enough away to be free from crowds of tourists. It derives its name from the industrial age when the building was used as a gentleman’s hat factory, where the famous bowler hats, top hats and boaters were produced. Now it includes an old-style London pub, spacious with lots of comfortable booths and seating, where we went for lunch. Its menu is not huge but has a good range of less usual pub meals (although fish and chips are of course there), listed under starters, mains, sharers, sandwiches, desserts and their speciality – pies. We selected the Steak & Fullers ESB pie, filled with caramelised shallots, roasted field mushrooms and Fullers extra special bitter gravy. The dish came with chips or mash and mixed vegetables, and was well presented and very tasty. Service was quick and pleasant throughout. The pub has a selection of ales and an extensive range of whiskies.

A perfectly placed family run experience Hotel. I loved the place it has style and atmosphere. The pub next door was busy, the food was good and wholesome - whatever that means - OK well cooked and plenty of it and its where you go for a cooked breakfast.

Excellent location for shops London City and all its treasures !

Loved it and will return soon on business.

Room Tip: try not to get a room at the front as revellers and party goers make alot of noise and if you want t...

in this hot weather beware of the above room....the fan is inadequate and if you open a window the noise from traffic is horrendous. Very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was ok, but short staffed so the poor girl was running around like a loony, apologising to everyone. Wouldnt stay here again!!!

Room Tip: ask for one at the back...

While most staff could not be more pleasant, be ware if your luck is to encounter the most surly of staff I have personally encountered in all of England - v sweary. Most unpleasant and obviously not the correct career choice.
Also beware if your phone is missing-said staff may have taken it to the staff room where there are no cameras, having denied he found it. Strongly recommend security software - as we recovered phone when a picture was sent of the staff in posession.

Room Tip: beware of nightclub across the road

This hotel is situated near Blackfriars Bridge, walking distance to central London. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, clean and the pub was great. Would recommend.

I was a little disappointed when I initially saw our room -- and the "view" of the back of other buildings -- but it turned out to be decent. Room was clean, a bit outdated, but comfortable. The pub downstairs was a big plus, and the location is pretty good too.

This hotel is ideally situated close to the South entrance to Blackfriars railway station and five minutes walk from the river Thames, so is a good base for exploring the South Bank area of London. It has a pub below it which serves a good selection of real ales (Fullers brewery) and also does great bar food. It is nice and clean with friendly staff so I would recommend staying here if you need somewhere as a base.
