Room was booked in light of extortionate costs of accommodation in and around Central London.

Paid £71 for double room in advance. Last double room available for the Saturday night we wanted to book for in May.

Check in was late afternoon, very quick with two friendly guys manning the reception area. Great location, less than 10 minutes from Euston rail station and probably a couple of minutes less walk to Kings Cross/St Pancras.

Lobby area was spacious, and although we didn't use the facilities on offer, seemed clean from a distance, bright and airy.

Our double room was basic - very basic. Obviously the focus is on affordability (don't expect, TV's tea/coffee making facilities here. Duvet was thin but functional, with an old rickety metal frame bed. We had a room facing onto the main Euston Road (overlooking Kings Cross). The road is very busy, and the double glazing is not quite 100% soundproof so if you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest taking your earplugs with you. There was some storage space in the form of some old cupboards with some hangers.

Air-conditioning unit was set to automatic with no override available. The temperature in London wasn't particular warm when we visited so we found the cold air preset that the air conditioning was set to was uncomfortable (if you turned it off - the noise of the traffic was even louder so not the best of options available. I'm a light sleeper, so I didn't particularly sleep well . If you are a good sleeper, you won't really notice

Bathroom was small, basic (think of a dorm style bathroom on a far smaller scale.

We forgot to take towels, which are available to buy from reception at a cost of £4 (basic cotton towels - don;t expect plush luxuries)

Masses of information if you're on a budget, such as a free guided walking tour of London (pick ups in the morning from the hostel).

We checked out too early to take advantage of breakfasts (served from 7.30 in the cafe area next to reception).

Overall - it does what it says in th tin, but next time, I may fork out that extra money for some comforts at a hotel.

We stayed at YHA London St Pancras for three nights over New Years. It is very conveniently located near King's Cross St Pancras station, and its staff are friendly and switched-on. The facilities are great - internet, cafe, laundry, breakfast. Despite such a busy time of year, it still maintained a relaxed vibe and we had plenty of privacy. A big thank you to the staff for giving us advice about going to see the fireworks, and for your cheery smiles when we checked out at 3.30am!

Sorry too have to write this as I am an avid member of the YHA and I'm always promoting it and encouraging people to stay especially with young families but we were not given a good reception on both of our stays here.

We stayed for a night before we got the eurostar to disneyland paris and then for a night on our return.

The reception were rude and non engaging on both occasions. I asked for advice on the best way to get into St.Pancras to the eurostar, I was told that 'it was just over the road, did I not know that'. Yes, I did but there were several entrances to get in and I wanted to know which one too use. Instead we asked for advice while out on the street - more helpful. They were also in no rush to check us in and continued to click on the computer without even acknowleging our presence.

On our second visit their were two members of staff on, one of the members of staff whispered to his colleague that he could check us in, started laughing and walked over too the bar area.

I then asked what time we had to be out of the room the next morning as on a previous stay we had been up and out by 7.30am. The man on reception pointed at an information sheet and said 'it's on there', why could he not just tell me??

I don't know whether staff have a problem with families using this facility for stop overs for the eurostar but that is the way we were made to feel.

Other users of the hostel were also very rude, pushing past us to get into the lift before us when we had a child in a buggy and lots of cases and pushing past us through the entrance door.

I'm sorry but it was not an enjoyable stay.

I have to say that the two ladies who were serving breaksfast were lovely and had MANNERS.

If you have a young family I would recommend staying at St. Pauls, we stayed their in October 2010 and had a lovely time.

We arrived via Eurostar and short walk from staion. Stayed in 4 bed family room with shower, toilet & basin. On 1st floor minimal noise as long as windows closed, b'fast great value, staff very helpful, laundry and access to comuters in lobby or via wifi. Meals available in foyer cafe and good value. Rooms good size with room to lay your bags out, rooms could do with some more hooks and shelves for items. TV room lounge on first floor with large flatscreen TV great for kids. Card required to get to rooms floors etc so very secure. Fantastic location with short walk to tube station. If you are looking for hostel and traveling with family don't gopast this hostel.

Stayed here for 4 days over a weekend. Nice hostel
- Great locations 2 minute walk from tube station, which practically has most lines or connection to other lines. Kings cross and St pancras train station also there
- Rooms ok size 6 bedded dorm, enough storage take a pad lock so you can lock stuff in your locker.
- Shower room small but does the job there was also another one across from the room which was bigger
- beds comfy pillows quite thin but did not bother me as only use pillow normally.
- I did not spend time in the bar area but looked busy when I was passing through
- Breakfast was varied on price £4-£5 which i thought was not too bad as I bought a bacon roll from across and a juice and I was £5 just for that.
I walked about on my own through the day and at night, and always felt safe.
Hostel was clean and staff were friendly.
