“Brilliant London location”
Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

This is the third time I have stayed at St Pancras YHA. It's location to tube lines is brilliant. It is clean and modern and rooms are spacious. It can get noisy due to sirens, but the windows keep out a lot of the noise. The communal rooms are excellent and staff informative, friendly and always willing to help. Can't wait to come and stay again.

I stayed at YHA London St Pancras for a night only because I had to catch a train from St Pancras early the next morning and the location of this hostel is great - just a few minutes away from the station. That was practically the only positive.

The dorm room smelled like sweat, body odour, vomit or unwashed socks - I couldn't quite place what it was. The shower in the bathroom only shot water out at a weird angle which didn't allow you to have a shower without getting your hair wet.
You had to pay extra for absolutely everything - even to leave your luggage in the luggage room.
Was nice that you could get a meal downstairs, very convenient - but it wasn't cheap. Walk a few blocks and you can get a better meal for less.

We stopped here as we had an early train from St pancreas in the morning and didn't see the point in paying a lot for a hotel that we wouldn't get to see much off. I was so surprised when we turned up and it was very clean, plenty of staff on reception who were helpful and polite. Although we had a twin room with a shared bathroom there seemed to be a bathroom for every 2 rooms so there was no queuing and everything was clean. There was a cafe/bar downstairs serving cheap standard meals and drinks with internet stations there too.
There were lots of leaflets and opportunity to book on trips and tourist attraction visits, although we didn't use any of these they did look good.
Only downside was the bunk beds which weren't the most comfortable I've ever stopped in!

I had very fond memories of this hostel as it was where I stayed on my very first trip to London 15 years ago. Unfortunately, my views have changed. Whilst the staff were in the most part pleasant and efficient, I did also have the misfortune of being checked in by quite a moody staff member, which didn't exactly start my visit well.

There were only two sockets in use in my room (which had six beds). The lamp beside my bed was broken, and the sink in the bathroom blocked. The common areas were very small and did not have near enough seating.

While the location is good, there are many other similarly priced hostels in Central London now which can offer a much better experience. I won't be returning.

First, the staff are really nice. They greet you when you pass by the reception, And they are really helpful if you have any problem. Once, they helped me booked the ticket for MAMMA MIA. Second, the location is fantastic, it's near the King's cross station which is a "transportation centre", you can go anywhere in a super easy way. Third, the room I stayed for a week is big (maybe it's a room for the disabled?) But if you are a light sleeper, you might feel not that well as it's near the road where cars passing by all the time. And the bad thing is that you have to pay everything if you are not a YHA member, for example, Wi-Fi. Anyway, the hostel is fantastic, and I would stay there if I travel London again.

St. Pancras YHA is strategically located...almost near to everything in terms of transport, there are train stations (Kings Cross, St. Pancras and Euston) and bus stops as well...British Library is in front of YHA, British Museum is just 30 mins. away (leisurely walk), SOHO just as close...nice facilities - small restaurant, storage facilities, nice lounge area, accommodating staff...price is reasonably inexpensive...

Room Tip: always choose the lower bunk bed unless you are not an early riser, bring a portable lock for the ca...

Firstly - you've to pay for everything extra - none of which is made clear when you're booking.

Secondly, in the lounge area, a fight broke out (verbal) over a tv remote and reception had to be called and a lot of yelling was the result. Then there was a guy in the commons area facetiming his friend who was making 'hash'. This guy proceeded to show the video of making hash to another random in commons. As a girl traveling with just another girl - it made me feel very unsafe. I decided to leave the hostel three days early.

Although the location is quite good - the area is not.
Also the toilet was very unhygienic and didn't flush properly.

Room Tip: Do not ever ever get a shared room with randoms
