Wow - I wish Hilton properties in the US looked after their guests the way this property does. I have traveled close to 1000 nights over the last 10-years and the staff at this property rates in the top 5 locations ever. The location is right on Trafalgar Square and is within walking distance to Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the British Museum, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, several bus stops, a few tube stations, etc, etc - a top location for a tourist. All are within 10-15 minutes walk.
The hotel has a roof top patio that was unfortunately closed due it not being in season yet (opens in April I believe); however, this did not diminish our stay. The restaurant is on the bottom floor and had wonderful staff. There is a bar / coffee & sitting area on the main floor. Be aware that this area could be a little loud in the evenings, but only added to the experience and was a good place to grab a coffee or pint of beer. There was some street noise - mostly sirens from police or ambulances going by, but this is to be expected in any major city center. Again - location can not be beat!
Restaurants are plentiful including a McDonald's and Little Frankies (American style food) within a couple of blocks. Breakfast at the hotel was great with excellent service and was included with our stay because of being a Hilton Hhonors members.
We stayed twice due to a 2-day break in Paris and stayed in two different rooms at this property. Both were similar and both were clean, very comfortable, and updated and good sized bathrooms. The hotel featured daily room service and also an evening turn-down service that we just couldn't pass up!
We traveled with a child and the hotel was super accommodating and appears to have made a friend for life. The hot chocolate from the restaurant is not to be missed! European hotels can be smaller (typically only 2 guests per room), but we had no issues at this property and worked out all the details via email prior to arrival. If you have any concerns - email them, they were great to work with.
Other recommendations while in London include taking a day (or two) trip to Paris if your time allows - it is definitely worth it if you have never been. Also, don't pass up the chance to see Stone Henge & Bath if you have the time - about a 1/2 to full day trip. The tube and buses are clean and easy to use and you can buy an all day travel pass that includes both.
Bottom line - we will be back and staying at this property the next time we find ourselves in London. Special thanks to the hotel management and staff for a great experience.
