“Lovely hotel, perfect location . . . noisy”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

This hotel is perfectly located within very easy walking distance to all the theatres, a huge variety of restaurants, bars and the nearby sights. There are several nearby tube stations to get you further afield making this the perfect base for a weekend in London!

There is no restaurant, so no breakfast option, although there are plenty of places nearby to grab some food in the morning and the rooms do have kettles with tea & coffee provided.

The décor is fantastic, roll top bath, huge shower and king size bed top it off perfectly.

The only problem we could find with our stay was that after a late night of enjoying the food & drink London has on offer, 7am was a bit early for the road works outside somewhere nearby to start. This inevitably had a knock on effect and stirred other hotel guests, the noise of people moving around, talking and letting doors slam shut, combined with the road works ruined any opportunity to grab a lie-in, so as long as your happy to get up with early this won't be a problem.

The looks & location of this hotel are so good though, that a little early morning noise wouldn't put me off staying there again!

Room Tip: Room 42 was very noisy in the morning with noise from nearby road works and early risers talking in...

This is the second time we've stayed at The Fielding hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although London prices, the hotel is very well decorated and furnished. The staff are very helpful and always greet you warmly. Considering its next door to the Royal Opera House, noise isn't an issue as each room has privacy glass and it is set in a secluded terrace. Would thoroughly recommend.

We were looking for a cosy, comfortable hotel near Covent Garden for our yearly trip to London Theatreland. The Fielding exceeded our expectations. A friendly reception, an extremely cosy and comfortable room with all the facilities we needed, a variety of restaurants and shops nearby and Covent Garden Opera House just around the corner. Perfect for us. We will be requesting a room here again. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a single night midweek and the location was perfect. We requested one of the rooms displayed on the website with a roll-top bath and it was a very pretty room. The room was a very good size and also had a huge rainfall shower in the bathroom. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. As the hotel is not directly on the road there was very little noise from outside but we did have some noises during the early morning which we couldn't determine whether it was noisy pipes or something dripping onto the casement windows where it is a basement room. This did disturb our sleep but was not enough of an issue to cause us not to recommend the hotel.
We walked to Kopapa at seven dials for breakfast which was very good but there is plenty of choice nearby.

Rooms are so small you can barely fit your baggage. Speaking of luggage, you have to walk up very narrow flight of stairs to get to your room. If that doesn't bother you, the Fielding is a great choice. Rooms reasonably clean, sheets changed every day and bathroom well stocked. Room always stocked with bottled water. Location is great... in the middle of Covent Garden without being noisy at all. Front desk personnel are helpful but knowledge varies depending on who is manning the desk. Many breakfast choices in the area (try Billy's). Also free passes to a nice gym around the corner is a bonus. Overall a nice location based hotel if you aren't looking for luxury and don't mind a relatively confined space.

This hotel is fantastic. The location is great - ideally situated for the theatre and Covent Garden. We had a twin room which was a split-level room, with the bathroom and a dressing room down some steps. Because of the hotel's small size, it feels much more friendly and personal than other larger hotels and it's so quiet you wouldn't think you were in central London. We'll definitely be going back.

I stayed at this hotel while attending two business dinners in London. It was brilliantly located to get to both dinners (one at the Banqueting House in Whitehall and the other at the Grand Connaught Rooms) easily and back safely late at night. I had a room on the first floor and didn't notice any noise, although it is in a busy area that never sleeps! There's no food but the area is full of cafes, although I wasn't very impressed with the hotel's recommended cafe for breakfast - Wings - burnt toast and hard poached eggs - it has some charm as a traditional London 'caff' but it could have been a lot nicer. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a central London stay.

Room Tip: The stairs to the upper floors are narrow and steep and there's no lift so if you have mobility...
