“A lovely little hideaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2010

The Levin is a hidden oasis of calm and kindness in the midst of snooty Knightsbridge. It's a small establishment, and thanks to its size it is extremely quiet and the charming staff all seem to know you by name almost as soon as you walk through the front door. The rooms are extremely comfortable and spotless, and each, in addition to a champagne bar, comes with its own mini-library of Penguin Modern Classics - a lovely touch that I'd never come across in any other hotel.

The location is really good, right off Sloane Street and next to Harrods. The hotel is exactly like in the pictures, tasteful and elegant. The deluxe room was very nice, the sitting area is comfortable and bright, great for reading. The partitioned entrance is an unexpected surprise.

I'd have given this hotel another star if it weren't for our next door neighbours who were very active and had brought with them musical instruments; who also enjoyed having gatherings in the room. They didn't require much sleep either. Our bed was against the very wall that partitioned the 2 rooms so their conversations had become our alarms and radio.

The restaurant in the basement is weird and cold, but there's a nice bistro/cafe right next door which has a very nice breakfast menu, and starbucks is just behind on brompton st.

The service was ok, staff was not particularly friendly but they did their job. I'd go back for the comfortable room, the design and the location.

This is a charming, quiet, elegant boutique hotel in an outstanding location. Everything is top-quality, the bistro downstairs is lovely, and the staff are very helpful. But there are little problems that one wouldn't normally at other hotels at this price.

These relate to the hotel's strange practice of quoting prices "exclusive of VAT" (the mandatory 17.5% tax that everyone pays)--it's fair to do this, but it does leave one with the sense that we're being milked. Not a posh practice suiting a posh hotel. Room rate doesn't include VAT; the £30 per night for a rollaway bed doesn't include VAT; nor the £15 for daily wireless access; nor the £2.30 for a coffee in the afternoon.

Worst of all, upon checkout the hotel adds a nightly £10 "discretionary service charge" (plus VAT) to the final bill--has anyone ever seen this at a UK hotel? This gives the wrong and unfortunately lasting final impression. No one likes to ask to remove a gratuity--even when the £285 night rate (plus VAT) normally includes paying a fair salary to the person manning the front desk. Is that service fitting for a fine hotel?
Lovely place otherwise!

If you are looking for a hotel that reflects sophistication, staff that can anticipate your every need, and appreciate the refined skills of a dedicated Hotel Manager such as Mr. Harald Duttine, The Levin in Knightsbridge is your hotel. During my 10 day stay in London, the pre Christmas drama of snowfall, reunions and shopping found this hotel and its wonderfully talented staff orchestrated by Mr Duttin; capable of handling any and all requests. Many thanks as well to the talented staff at the Le Metro who regardless of what time of day I entered, promptly seated me and I was served within moments. The Fish and Chips were the best I have ever tasted. Everything about this hotel is perfect. Alas, there is life beyond Park Lane!

This is one wonderful little boutique hotel in London. I very much enjoyed my stay and the staff is excellent! The rooms are very spacious for such a small hotel. Great location, I can't say more. Highly recommend it.

The hotel is located in the heart of London, next door to Harrods.
I was there just for one night and got upgraded to the junior suite which was amazing, double flat screen tvs, Bose radio and marble bathroom.
Having booked trough Amex Platinum I was expecting my "guaranteed" late checkout, however after many excuses, no late checkout was given.
All in all a remarkable experience, the ideal hotel to stay when you're in London and want to enjoy its best stores and museums.
