“A very good budget hotel with a great location”
Reviewed 25 May 2011

We were at Lancaster Hall Hotel for 4 nights for a short London trip including Royal Albert Hall concerts, sightseeing and meeting with friends. The hotel has a great location, so near to Lancaster Gate and Paddington tube stations and buses near these stations. Hyde Park is just around the corner and even the canal boats of Little Venice just about 1.2 km from the hotel. A 20 minute walk through the Kensington Park to Albert Hall.
Everything worked fine with the hotel, very friendly service and more than avarage breakfast for this price, I think. A little fridge in the room would be nice extra and maybe some shampoo, but you really can't complain. A very good budget hotel, I'd like to return here.
While in London, use the buses with your oyster card and go to the canal and river boat cruises. You'll see the big city from a different perspective.

Lancaster Hall is what a good budget hotel should be. It has good location, located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. The room is clean and not too small. The staff are friendly. I paid 32 pounds for a single room with shared bath, and the price includes breakfast (which is also good). Wifi is provided by spectrum for 10 pounds/day. ...just to compare, I was staying at the Landmark the night before. It costs 10 times more (paid by my company, of course) but the rate doesn't even include breakfast!

The hotel offered all we were looking for... a clean room, good sized bathroom, an outside window, tv plus and reasonable breakfast. It is situated very close to Pennington station which basically connects to Heathrow Airport and all other major underground trains in Central London. And all this for a very affordable nightly rate.

Stayed here twice. First time for NFL in London, second for NBA. Brilliant location, just walk out of Paddington, turn right down Craven Road. Keep walking until you reach a zebra crossing next to a pharmacy, turn left (Craven Terrace) and the hotel is down there on your left. Literally 5mins walk from Paddington. (Just to correct a previous review slightly, there's Chinese food, pharmacy etc about 2 mins away on Craven Road. Always found the staff very courteous, efficient and pleasant. Rooms are small, a bit under-cared for. My bed was quite springy, you kind of sink into it! Doors on key locks, but door locks itself when shut (I believe). Windows do let in a bit of air but can't be opened. Radiator in room may not be on - but you can easily twist to put on. Bathroom excellent, well maintained, clean. Lots of people from different nations, usually European. The area is just north of Hyde Park which is great. Hyde Park area seems quite Eastern European I believe. Royal Albert Hall, Science Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and Natural History Museum around 20-30mins walk away across Hyde Park. Good mix of people in and around hotel. Hotel bar stays open til 11pm but always back later than that! Breakfast in the morning includes tea/coffee, lots of wholemeal or white small loaves, different types of ham and cheese, breakfast cereal, toast etc. Always being topped up so nice and fresh. You drop your key off when you go out (it's on a huge rectangle keyring thing) so need to keep your paper passes with you to get your key back when you check in. Other than the rooms being slightly under-cared for, the one thing you may have to contend with is a number of young people travellers who can be a bit noisy, but as I'm a youth worker it didn't really bother me!

Spend three nights in Lancaster Hall. Although the twin bedded room were relatively
small, it has everything you need (write desk, enough space in wardrobe, good bathroom, TV, etc.). The room was very clean, the bed allows a comfortable sleep.
The Hotel offers an excellent (great variety of food) breakfast with an attentive service,
The location is very good - 5 minutes walk to underground station and kensington
gardens and the price for the accomodion is unbeatable for this area.

A warm and welcoming stay at this hotel, a great base for us to stay while shopping in London. The rooms was ample, the breakfast was good and the location was brilliant. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I cannot fault it due to the incredible low value. We would stay there again on our next visit to london.

The place is great for the following reasons:
1. location: within 5 minutes walk from Paddington Metro (direct connection to central london & airport) It is located just off the main road so there was hardly any noise. Furthermore, there are Malaysian & Chinese restaurants, super market/pharmacy just 50mins away! There is also a church nearby.
2. Staff: very helpful & friendly, very smiley.
3. Room: very clean & tidy. even for the shared WCs & bathrooms, it was brand new & clean. heater & hot water were reliable all the time
4. Price: at 30 pounds/nite/private room (shared Wcs) it was the best!
