I found this Hotel very good value for central London. Good location, the staff were polite and the room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good too. Would definately return or recommend. Art Deco feel was very nice.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room and was given room 641. No view but it was quiet as requested.

we just returned from our 2nd trip to this hotel , if you want a base for a central London based break this is ideal . Tube station Just around the corner and a short walk if you are more in to walking . we stayed 2 nights to visit a family member and go to afternoon tea / show that was given as a present from our kids.
the art deco decoration in the communal areas is nice but not every ones taste but we like it.
we didn't sleep to good but we live in the country side so being in the hustle and bustle of the city with the noises that go with it wasn't the hotels fault . so take your ear plugs.
The room was clean and looked newly decorated and the bed comfy . breakfast was good but could have been hotter for my personal taste, but when catering for lots of guests we understand that its impossible to have it mega hot all the time.
we would stay here again as we are in London for the sights and this hotel has a warm friendly environment and a clean nice room that is all you need after a busy day of sightseeing

Room Tip: maybe an internal room would have been quieter

Clean, basic room but excellent value for money surprised at how much space we had for central London. Good selection at breakfast, continental & cooked - buffet style - cheap and cheerful. Would go back and would recommend to others. Really well located, just a short walk to Tube.

Stayed in the Tavistock hotel for 3 nights. Great location. 5 min walk from euston station and pretty good for getting to most attractions. We never got a good night sleep in the 3 nights, the beds were solid but the main reason was the constant noise from the lifts. It sounded like giants were moving furniture around. This was very regular from early morning till very late. I suppose we could have asked to change rooms but I couldn't see this being a remedy as we were already 5 rooms from the lift anyway. The breakfasts were pretty average with some chaotic goings on. We actually missed the last breakfast we paid for because of this. I personally would recommend elsewhere.

I was working locally, and needed a clean and convenient hotel within walking distance of my location. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior, as I'd always thought the place looked a bit tired and dated. Quite a lot of refurbishment must have taken place recently, as everything looked surprisingly good, and still kept the "deco" feel.
The staff at Reception and check in were functional, but could never be described as being welcoming, interested or friendly.
The wine bar food was very average, and a bit pricey, but probably in line with the area in general, but the staff were very offhand and disinterested and inattentive. If I stayed there again I would definitely go out to one of the Italian or French restaurants nearby which offer far better value and friendly service.

Breakfast was not bad but not great. Mounds of pre-cooked toast (therefore cold and rubbery). Tasteless and tough thin sausages. Watery baked beans. At least the room catered quite well for the volume of guests at that time in the morning, but it's the first hotel I've stayed in for many years that didn't have either croissants or yoghurt on offer at breakfast. There are many places within a couple of minutes walk which offer far better breakfast quality for about £5-£7, so check on the cost of the hotel breakfast deals before you book.

The room was comfortable, clean, warm, and remarkably quiet, despite overlooking the square.
It would have been nice to have been supplied with shampoo though.... It's those little touches which mean a lot, as the water is very hard in London, and I ran out of my own, and ended up washing my hair using the room soap bar!

I didn't set out to be negative in this review, and hope it doesn't come over that way. I was simply trying to be constructively critical. This hotel is excellent value overall for this part of London, and I'd definately stay here again.

Located in Tavistock Square - so only a 5 minute walk from Euston Station, the Tavistock is very convenient for a visit to London. The nightly rate is very reasonable for London and by booking online and looking at "Deals" it is possible to get an evening meal included in the rate if you are staying for 2 nights. The rooms are small but adequate. Certainly no frills - one towel per guest and no air conditioning but the windows actually open and that was fine in October. Buffet style breakfast was generous. There were hot and cold choices and everything was replenished regularly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the square.

Booked as part of a Super Break Theatre weekend

Good points
- Hotel is situated very close to all theatres, Convent Gardens, and to Russell Square Tube Station. A couple of mins walk from the station and we were there.
- Our room was clean, with fresh bedding. Two pillows per bed which were not bad quality.

Bad Points
- The staff were awful rude, sulky, sullen, with no customer service. At check in we were not told we had to bring our breakfast slip with us in the morning and that breakfast was until 10.30am. We arrived at breakfast at 10.20 (with no slip!) and were told we didn't need it now as we only had 5 minutes. Food was okay quality, although no difference between the poached egg and the hard boiled as it had be sat there so long. Tea was brought to the table if you ordered it. At 10.30 on the dot one member of staff started to clear things from our table while we were still eating. When she tried to do this for a second time i asked if she could wait until we had finished, with this she replied that 'breakfast had finished 2 minutes ago'
- Room was tiny, with two small single beds, could do with a lick of paint.
-Not value for money

Overall, the location is this hotels only saving grace, i will not be heading back in a hurry!

Room Tip: A different hotel
