“Ok hotell. But bad breakfast!”
Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

Good location and the rooms ok. The wireless worked bad, specially in the morning and evening when everyone was trying to go online. The breakfast was a disappointment. You travel to England and have to pay extra for a English breakfast. And the breakfast that was included was small and the coffe and tea came late too us. If you pointed that out you got a bad replay back...

I booked an overnight stay with breakfast for myself and my wife at a very advantageous price. The hotel is very well situated for Euston, St. Pancras and Kings Cross stations, as well as the British Museum and countless restaurants. The room was on the small side, but spotlessly clean and more than adequate for our purposes. The bathroom was alright, it had a hairdyer but only soap. so bring your own toiletries! Breakfast was plentiful, a good range of buffet and hot dishes, but the quality was decidedly ordinaire. All in all, I would book again if the same price were offered.

Easy registration, we had room 730 in seventh floor, bed comfy, shower hot, bath nice, pillows ok. Quiet, good breakfast. Staff ok. A great location with easy access from Waterloo station (168 bus, Russell sq tube or £8 taxi)

Freiendly staff at reception, good fast straight forward check in. We was on the third floor, the room was perfect, bed clean and comfy, bathroom with white fluffy towels, and a good shower.
There was a hairdryer in bedroom, kettle, coffee, tea, suger and milk. We also had a male cleaner, which kept the room spotless and supplied coffee , tea, milk and sugar everyday.

Breakfast starts at 7:00am - And they have every thing you want, part from mushrooms and blackpudding, they even had yellow fish. Staff were very friendly.

Excellent location near tube staition, walk down to the Strand and you can catch any bus.

Not my first time in this place, and i waited to return.
Stayed in the Tavistock hotel for 5 nights. room on floor 7
Great location. 5 min walk from euston station and to Russell Square Tube Station, pretty good for getting to most attractions
BUT
No air condition It was so hot in the hotel and rooms it was unbearable
Old tv with a slim selection of channels
Noise: The road and bars nearby make it a very noisy place to stay
The small single bed was uncomfortable
The pillows are dreadful
Bathroom has very old sinks, the Shower was so low it hit me in the chest
Skinny towels, four bars of soap in the bathroom, but nothing else
I'm not going back if I can avoid it.

Stayed 2 nights with friends to attend a company Christmas do and the theatre. The hotel was clean but a little dated. Our rooms were adequate size but poorly equipped for the standard of hotel and price paid - I recently stayed in a budget B&B in Blackpool for a quarter of the price which was better equipped. There were only 2 small bath towels, of very poor quality, I understand we could have requested more but I would have expected to find at least 2 hand and 2 bath towels. The tea and coffee provided consisted of 2 packs each containing one tea bag, one coffee sachet, 2 sugar sachets, a flimsy stirrer and paper napkin - both the tea and coffee were bad! There were no tissues other than toilet roll and to get a hairdryer I had to go to the housekeeper's office on the 8th floor and leave a £20 deposit for a hairdryer which wasn't worth £20 - the directional nozzle on the end was sellotaped in place! And I wasn't impressed having to traipse through the hotel with wet hair! The breakfast was reasonable but the dining room was very busy - it felt very rushed. There is no other meal option. The hotel bar was ok, prices cheaper than usual for a hotel. We booked this hotel for its location and convenience for our Christmas party venue and the best I can say is 'adequate'.

This was the second time we've stated at the Tavistock. It is very well situated in Bloomsbury, a short distance from the nearest tube station and easily walkable from the West End (about 20 -25 mins).
The hotel has an attractive, stylish Art Deco reception area and restaurant- most of the fixtures/ fittings appear original.
The room was fairly basic, but clean and in pretty good decorative order.
Breakfast is served in the large restaurant, and there is a choice of 'full English' or 'Continental'- the staff were professional and polite, the food reasonable.
We like this hotel because it is traditional, unpretentious, appears well run and is pretty good value for money considering the location overlooking Tavistock Square.
I would have rated it 3.5 stars because, in my opinion, it is better than 'average' but not quite 'very good'- but that option is not available.
We will use again.
