“Excellent hotel”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Just back from a couple of days in London. Stayed at this Hotel and found all the Staff in the Hotel extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms although basic were homely and very clean. The breakfast was tremendous with a choice of cereals, different fresh juices and a superb array of cooked items. The Staff in the Restaurant were very obliging and kept on refilling our cups. Would definitely recommend The Tavistock Hotel. Will definitely be returning for a longer break.

Room Tip: Room 507 is excellent

Only problems with this very central hotel a) Traffic noise - so ask for a back room b) No shampoo, so bring your own! Room was a good size, decent breakfast. Very handy for British Museum. Very reasonable prices in bar, concierges/reception staff helpful.

Big clean room, friendly staff and reception, lots of breakfast. Interesting old building.
Nice location between the British Library and the British Museum, and close to a lot of other convenient places.

The hotel staff at reception was very friendly. The room was small and ok size for London but extremely basic with stained bedding and blankets that looked like they were made out of some plastic material. There was no wi-fi in the rooms. The staff at the restaurant for breakfast was appalling - the tables were dirty and they just kind of brushed them off in front of me. From the whole experience the best thing was the location of the hotel.

We were booked into this hotel on a group booking, so we had no choice, we thought it would be dissapointing experience - however the opposite was the case. The staff were friendly, plus the rooms were clean and tidy. What did it for us was the location. You couldn't get much better. Pluys the breakfast was great.

This is a straight forward 3* hotel and part of the Imperial chain.
It's ideally located for Euston station, at less than a 10 minute walk away and all of the other main attractions are also easily accessible, by tube, bus, or on foot.
Our room had a pleasant view overlooking Tavistock Square and it was clean and functional.
The shower is really powerful.
We had no problems with noise.
Full English breakfast was included in the price of the room. I wouldn't choose to pay for it otherwise, but it was hot, filling and adequate. Based on the room price though, it was good value for central London.
I paid with the wrong bank card when checking in and didn't realise until check out, totally my mistake.
Teresa on reception was super helpful and sorted it really quickly and without any fuss.
This hotel makes London affordable for us when we visit our son at University or goo to see a show. We have already booked again for our next visit.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Tavistock Hotel for 6 nights altogether with a break in between. The rooms were a standard size for London and the price was reasonable combined with the fact we got a continental breakfast included. The WIFI was fast, it would have been better if you could access it in the room. The price of drinks in the bar was excellent for Central London considering most places jack the prices up, Tavistock kept quite modest which was nice, you could also use the WIFI in the bar which was nice sitting around on the net with a English Ale. We needed to store 2 bags there for 5 days in between our stay as we were heading over to Europe and it was CHEAP to keep our bags there, 2 bags for 5 days was 5 pounds, cant get better than that!! All in all, a good hotel in a good location, close to Russell Square Gardens station which is on the Central Line so nice and easy to get to London's attractions also this line connects you straight to Heathrow (easy for first time travellers to London), would recommend and stay again :)

Room Tip: If you want WIFI in your room perhaps request a room on the 1st floor, you might be lucky.
