Stayed here 1 night for a work function nearby, room was clean and adequate for our needs, excellent powerful shower.
Speedy check in/out, friendly staff, breakfast is continental only unless you pay an extra £5 .Plenty of pubs/ restaurant nearby, would recommend for a short stay, its within walking distance of soho, leicester square and oxford street

Room Tip: we had room 322 which overlooked the square

Stayed here for four nights in late August. This hotel is in a wonderful position just a short walk (5 mins) from Euston Station and St Pancras Kings Cross. Russell Square underground is also 5 mins in the other direction (behind Russell Hotel). The Tavistock hotel is a clean and basic hotel which has everything you need for a London break. The room was small but perfectly adequate as we literally slept and showered there and spent the days out and about. The bar area is a little tired and could do with more comfortable seating areas - in fact a refurbishment would lift this place to a whole new level with the fabulous period features on show. The check in was swift and the staff polite. The breakfast was good (I was worried as some reviewers had criticised the food), and the only problem we found was that one morning was particularly busy. Even so, the staff filled the buffet quickly and the food was fresh and hot Some reviewers have complained about noise levels, however this is central London, not far from the major stations and some traffic noise is to be expected! The room was double glazed and we heard no loud music- we were on the first floor overlooking Tavistock Square
A place I would visit again for a break in London.

Really brilliant. Went to Jacques for food - best decision ever. Food brilliant. Hotel great, staff attentive, breakfast fab - they know how cook the bacon !! Room okay, plenty of tv channels. Loads of hot water for the shower.

Room Tip: Ask for 6 or 7th floor, and makes sure you visit Jacques for food !

This hotel provided us with an excellent weekend break. Although it is central for Kings Cross an easy access to the many attractions in London the atmosphere is very calm. No trouble or queue booking in, very pleasant receptionist as were all the staff. Stayed on a bread and breakfast basis. Breakfast was fine self service but plenty tables available and served beverages at your table. Request a room overlooking Tavistock Square park. great view. Rooms small but adequate and cleaned every day. Will definitely return.

The staff were all very nice. Not very friendly but not rude. Just nice.
The free wifi was next to useless.
Our room on the 2nd floor wasn't too bad. Until we started hearing music. It turns out there is a club under the hotel, something that they don't make you aware of on their website. It was so loud we called reception to enquire and were informed it was open until 3am! So we had to move rooms. We were moved to the 8th floor to the tiniest room i have ever seen. The floor boards are very sqeaky and it had a crt tele, probably an antique now.
They also don't tell you that cereal and soggy toast is included in the free breakfast but if you want something hot it'll cost an extra £5. We also had to wait AGES before we were offered tea and coffee.
I dont think we would stay here again. I would rather pay extra to stay in a travel lodge.

If you take this hotel for what it is...then you will enjoy it. It is not a modern flash, bang, wallop style of hotel. It retains the fixtures and façade of something from a bygone age. So there are things about which a guest might reasonably say...wow it could do with a refurb. But others will enjoy the more classic slightly old world style. Also having this style means, that compared with other London hotels, it falls within the budget price bracket. The room I had was an airy corner room with plenty of space. It also had a separate toilet and bathroom facility. Even though it overlooked the main road, it had the advantage of having a park view and, for city centre London, the traffic noise was not particularly intrusive. I didn't use the WiFi as I was told it was only available in the lobby but then on check-out someone said that for an additional charge it was available in the room. I am not sure about this. However I am sure that for an additional charge of £10 you can have 24 hour access to the gym and swimming pool which is next door. Breakfast was busy but there was plenty of everything so good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel overlooks Tavistock Square park...so during what was a hot evening it provided a nice place to chill. All in all a very good value hotel.

Room Tip: Corner room on 4th floor had double view and quite spacious.

The service was very good. When booking (through Imperial Hotels own web site, which had the best prices) I requested a room on the top floor, overlooking Tavistock Square and far away from the lifts. They gave me exactly what I wanted. I can recommend the upper floor rooms as the traffic noise is less and the views pleasant.

The room itself was quite small and simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. The bed was fine and I slept well. The only complaint about the room is the creaky floor boards everwhere, especially in the corridors. A minor issue but it will disturb some. Despite what other reviewers have said, it is possibe to open the windows wide; you just have to release a small catch.

I opted for full English breakfast which was fine: a fair choice of hot and cold food. My offer also included one evening meal in Jacques Wine Bar. This was good too: simple but tasty.

Staff were friendly. WiFi is fine but only works in the lobby and bar. The hotel has Art Deco style furnishings, large leather sofas, and a slightly old fashioned charm about it. For the price and location it is very good, and I will definitely stay again.
