“Very disappointed”
Reviewed 2 July 2012 via mobile

I booked this hotel as it was 5* and was very close to The New London Theatre, I booked two twin rooms for my sister and I and for my parents. We had planned the trip as a surprise for our parents who were celebrating their 70th birthdays so we thought a 5* hotel and Warhorse would be a great way to mark the event. The hotel was very tired, the net roman blind in our room was grubby, the bathrooms were tiny and definitely not of 5* standard, my dad had a real problem manoeuvring in his due to the size. The single beds were very narrow. Our booking included continental breakfast which we upgraded to full English for £8 each, I was not impressed with the fact that despite the plates being in a warming oven, they were cold, the food was Luke warm even though we went down to breakfast a full hour before end of service. My sister and i were very annoyed to be woken up by an alarm clock that had been set in the room on the stereo system.... A rude awakening at 7am on a sunday morning! There were some plus points, the staff were very polite and helpful. My parents opted to eat in the Constellations restaurant and this was lovely, we chose the a la carte menu and it was well cooked and beautifully presented. The bar area is comfortable and bar staff enthusiastic and welcoming. I doubt we will visit again as there are much nicer 4* hotels in the vicinity.

We booked this hotel as a secret hotel. It was rated as 5 star close to oxford st. It's location is ideal. Walking distance to a lot of attractions and 2 mind from the tube.
The hotel itself was very impressive but lacked certain things to make it 5star. We originally booked a standard room but received a complimentary upgrade as my husband had emailed as it was my birthday. The room was slightly bigger then basic with a couch but the bathroom was very dated, especially the bath.
There was a mini bar and coffer making facilities and the bed was very large and comfy but no turn down service or morning paper which you would expect in a 5star.
The staff on the reception desk and concierge desk were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

I love the Grange Holborn. All the Grange Hotels are well maintained and comfortable.

This one has the added advantage of the pool and spa area in the basement, so we have spent a few weekends here either for shopping or theatre visits and the location means most attractions are in walking distance.

There are usually good deals to be had if you check online you can get 'special' rates.

I have stayed on my own on business and as a female that can sometimes be awkward but it's very welcoming, even when traveling alone.

In fact it's about time I visited again !

Room Tip: The exterior rooms obviously offer better views than the interior and higher up would in theory be l...

There are many good things to like about the Grange Holborn Hotel. For example, its location is pretty central to anything you might want to visit in London. You can easily walk to places like Westminster Abbey or the London Eye (maybe 25 minutes) and it's well connected by tube and bus routes with train stations all very reachable. Plus there are many restaurants and other facilities close at hand. All of this qualifies the hotel as a good location for people who want to visit London for business or pleasure. But the decor and internal fittings in the common areas and bedroom strike me as a little tired and kind of "last decade" and the breakfast seems expensive for what it delivers (STG23 or approx. EUR28.75), but hey, it's a central hotel in a major city. Another good point is the free Wi-Fi service that's offered which seemed to be pretty responsive and well capable of streaming video. So if you want a central location that is adequate all round the Grange Holborn will certainly deliver - but don't come here if you want something out-of-the-ordinary for your London trip.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms open out onto Southampton Row and can be affected by traffic noise.

We flew to Heathrow and took the Piccadilly Line to Holborn station. It took only 5 mins to the hotel. There are quite a few eatery around. We had breakfast included with the room rate. There are lots of selection from the buffet even though hot food is not included. We have to pay extra 8 GBP if we want hot food. We found that cold plates are good and sufficient. The room was clean and we liked the bed especially. We found that the bed is hard enough and usually could not find hard mattress in hotels. We enjoyed our stay there.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a hen do. we arrived to a very helpful desk who were kind enough to upgrade the bride to a suite.
We were all located in the same corridor and the rooms were great. VERY comfy beds, dark curtains and reasonably quiet, good showers and everything you might need in the room (great iron!)
the concierges were very helpful sorting us out with taxis and even lending me a phone charger.

the breakfast was nice but I agree with others that the continental isnt really an option. the cooked breakfast is whats good at it costs more, which is abit annoying. the pastries were abit dry.

We visited the spa which was very nice. great staff. lovely massage. nice pool and sauna and steam room.

all in all a great visit. nothing I could fault really....
