The staff at this hotel are a credit to a very dated and definitely not worthy 5* rated accommodation. Before I go on, I am internationally well travelled, mainly for recreation, so all my reviews are used on the benchmark of equivalent rated hotels.
It was my birthday so i decided to treat myself. I was supposed to receive a good deal using lastminute.com but initially the hotel gave me a standard double room which was so small i hit my shins on the edge of the bed and the bed mattress seemed smaller than the bed and so thin i could feel the wooden slats beneath. I complained and shown another room which was slightly bigger, my complaint was dealt with relatively speedily and without issue.
The bathroom was like going into a shoe box, the loo hidden behind the door, and a bath with shower doors that had mould. Overall it was clean but the fixtures and fittings very dated.
It was my birthday so i decided to treat myself to what is advertised by their in-house Spa as a luxurious head and body indulgence costing £185.
The Pool area is dimly lit and looks a nice pool but an overwhelming smell of Chlorine (i would have hoped they use alternative water cleansing chemicals). I would say the hotel photographs give a very glamourous look on what the actual pool is like in reality.
The changing rooms (used by pool and spa clients) were dreadful, cold, small with broken lockers, one public toilet, and 2 showers that had frosted doors (again mouldy), no privacy whatsoever. One hairdryer to be shared by all!
My treatment room was tiny and claustrophobic and a bizarre ritual of trudging to the changing rooms to shower off after exfoliation with therapist walking behind holding up a towel to save dignity. I was not asked what oils i wanted used on me so i had to stipulate this myself. The bathrobe i was given was damp. I had luggage with me having checked out of the hotel but it seemed an invconvenience with the beauty team that i could leave this somewhere so i had to pile it into spare lockers.
My treatment consisted of a full body exfiolation followed by hot stone therapy and gentle massage with oils. The facial was a standard exfoilation followed by a moisture mask and then a moisture tint, compared to other therapies exerpienced in other spas, I found it very basic.
I was asked how I found the experience but to be honest i could not say i was not happy, I felt a degree of intimidation by some of the Spa Staff.
