“Location and quality”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We stayed in this hotel for the first time because of its location close to specialist hospitals which were literally 2 minutes from the back door. It provided everything we wanted. Asked for a quiet room and got a quiet room of ample size with an adequate bathroom. The only improvement could have been having the excellent shower installed as a wet room rather than over a bath.
The service from all of the staff at every stage was first class. They were knowledgeable, helpful and supportive.
Breakfast was first class.
The decor could be seen by some as dated but we took it as a historic interesting feature.
We will stay there again with out the need to visit a hospital.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you don't want street noise. There is no view but it is quiet.

We stayed for one night and found the rooms to be comfortable, clean, hotel staff happy and friendly to help.
The location is great for shopping and going to the theatre as we did.
I booked the hotel through Last minute secret hotel deals so didn't know what hotel we were going to get but was impressed and would recommend.

Booked hotel for a wedding in London. We only live 1/2 from London by train and thought it would be good to have a weekend in the city. I always choose hotels very carefully and do loads of research into the best places to stay. We have stayed in the Grange Tower Hill which was a lovely hotel - all you would expect from a 5* hotel so thought the Grange Holborn would be of the same standard. Frankly I should have just come on the train for the wedding and gone straight home. The hotel is not a 5* establishment. It is tired and jaded and pokey. I had asked for a quiet room. We were given a room on the 9th floor. At 11.45pm I rang reception to complain about the noise. All you could hear were the lifts going up and down and people walking and banging about in the 9th floor bar. I was told the bar would soon be shutting and that we could change rooms next day. The 9th floor room bathroom was tiny and the lighting dreadful. The alternative room was not much better and the bed was like the rocky road to Rio. All in all a huge, expensive disappointment. Another gripe with all these London hotels is that they want to charge an extra £20 per person for breakfast...nip over the road to the local Sainsburys and buy fresh pastries, juice and fruit for a fraction of the cost. The only positive about this hotel was the swimming pool, sauna and steam rooom - very relaxing. The reception staff were apologetic about the room problems and we did change rooms, but frankly they must be aware how noisy the bar and lifts are and I felt more could be said and done. When I went to sort out room changing the deputy manager was at reception - he could have come and spoken to me. When I stay in a hotel I want a bit of luxury or I might as well stay at home - after all they charge enough. I am deeply disappointed in the Grange Holborn and would think twice about staying in this group of hotels. One very unhappy traveller.

Just got a last minute deal; we stayed for a theatre stop. The staff blew me away with their friendly service, the room was amazing ... Thoroughly recommend on all levels. We didn't have breakfast but everything we did have was spot on!

This Hotel is in a great location, close to Holborn tube station and close to Covent Garden. Check in was disappointing as they were trialling Tablets to check in but some of the older customers were struggling with this and the forms were not pre-populated which seemed to defeat the point.

The room was clean and a good size for a Central London hotel with a large desk, a good size bath / shower (small bathroom though). Nice to have free Wi-Fi that is easy to log in as well as a clock radio with an old style iPod Dock.

There is a good sized square pool along with a steam room and sauna in the basement along with a small but well equipped gym. Need £1 for the locker though although the receptionist will loan you one in exchange for your key card.

Decided not to bother with breakfast on hearing it was £26 each and extremely average according to another couple, preferring the nearby Onion cafe that supplied a well cooked English at a fraction of the cost. This is not unique with London hotels but my view is either cook a breakfast that justifies the cost or drop your prices. I also hate having to queue to check out when there are no outstanding bills with no fast check out-out facilities being offered.

Overall though a comfortable stay and good value at the discounted rate paid.

Stayed here for the night conveniently located within the westend.

The pool looked impressive on the website pity it didn't live up to the expectations - the steam room was lovely but toning down on the lighting would be nice.

The skybar was a disappointment - views was not breathtaking and atmosphere a bit dull. The price charged was extornationally high.

To summarise it was a pleasant stay just some minor things to highlight. I felt it was more of a three and a half-four star hotel.

This is in holborn and situated at the edge of holborn about 100m from the tube station. It's good for the Bloomsbury area and the city. It has good rooms and the staff were efficient and friendly. Well worth a try if you need some where that let's you wonder into Covent garden at night and news to work during the day.
