“waste of money”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

Staff are not friendly, had to walk outside to get to my room from the main reception - not good in the heavy rain, bathroom mirror light not working, big hole in the net curtain, shower took about 5 minutes to warm up, cups in room were dirty, no shelves or drawers in the bedroom, downwards slanted shelf for toileteries in bedroom meant things put on it slid off, noise travels from hallway to rooms, baked beans during breakfast were cold, and breakfast choice was not as good as breakfast at other Best Western I've stayed at - for hot breakfast the only choices were scrambled egg, fried egg, boiled egg, sausage and beans, but as I said beans were cold. There was no bacon or hash browns. Considering all this, £94/night was very expensive. Only positive points were it was clean and great location with it being on the high street and close to tube station. I was also lucky in that my room was off the main road so noise from traffic was less of a problem. I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for room off main road

This is the fifth time that we have stayed at the Best Western Chiswick Palace because of its location and the great service is wonderful value for the money. It is outside of the normal tourist area but Chiswick is a delightful area to stay with shops and restaurants close by, and central London and Heathrow Airport are easily accessible by tube.

Location is very good. Rooms were clean and laundry service was good. But the bathroom hand an extractor. Each time someone switches on the light of the bathroom to use it, the extractor switches on as well, with the result, especially during the night, that it becomes too annoying. Moreover, the bathroom space of room 3 was not spacious at all. I was a bit let down with the breakfast. Those who don't like the traditional English breakfast, and opt for a toast, have to do so without any ham. We asked for ham twice, but we ended up taking a toast just with cheese. Something else which let me down is the first aid kit. My father twisted an ankle, and went to reception to ask for a bandage, but to my surprise, the first aid kit was half empty. The reply that I got from one of the receptionists was to go and buy a bandage from a pharmacy nearby. I expect that in 2013, any establishment should have a basic first aid kit!!! What if this minor accident late in the evening!? From where was I going to buy the bandage!?!?

Room Tip: Those with heavy luggages, try to opt for rooms 1-3, since there are no lifts!!

A great old comfortable hotel in a good location for shops, meals and underground & rail services.
Standard rooms small but the superior room - stayed in No. 61 was very good and with had a roomy bathroom with bath/shower. Pleasant & helpful staff and a good breakfast included in the room price.

I was a bit apprehensive at first about the Best Western Chiswick Palace - I couldn't find the car park entrance in the dark (it's by a junction on a busy main road) and then when I checked in the very friendly and helpful receptionist told me I had a basement room. Did he say basement or dungeon?

I needn't have worried. My room was very new and accessed by a handy lift. It was quite small but very well thought out and superbly furnished. Being below ground (with a light-well window) it was also very quiet.

The hotel has a reasonable sized free car park (I got the last space at 8pm on a Saturday evening) and there is free wifi in the rooms, plus the usual tea/coffee amenities and air con. You also get a free room safe big enough for a laptop - excellent!

Breakfast was the usual buffet, nothing special, though they ran out of seating at 9:30 on Sunday morning - people were having to wait for tables to be free.

Super hotel, slightly unusual given what they're doing in developing their very small site, but highly recommended.

PS thanks to the hotel for allowing me to leave my car there for the whole day after I checked out!

Hotel is pleasant, staff friendly and welcoming, it's location is great for the tube and the limited free parking is a bonus. If I were to use one word to describe my room it would be 'small'. I had a lower ground floor room, yes in the basement. It was impossible to walk straight in the room only a sideways crab-like shuffle was possible as the gap between the bed and walls was so small. The bathroom is smaller than some aeroplane loos. Impossible to close the bathroom door. Having said all that the bed was comfortable and the room well appointed with modern fixtures and fittings, flat screen tv and aircon.

The entrance to the hotel is very pleasant, and reception staff are helpful.

Our room was subterranean, in a building behind the main hotel - we had to walk out the back through the carpark and down steps into a basement. However the room was quite comfortable, it was newly decorated, and had aircon, free wi-fi, kettle with tea coffee & biscuits, a flat screen TV with plenty of channels, and a nice bathroom with heated towel-rail.

Hot drinks were also available 24/7 in the lounge/reception area. Breakfast was great – a buffet of cereals, toast (wholemeal & white), eggs (poached and omelette), sausage, tomatoes, etc served in the conservatory. Also, if you were driving, there was free parking available (quite rare for a London hotel I think). Very handy to 2 underground stations – Stamford Brook & Turnham Green. Also dozens of restaurants and shops in Chiswick High St to choose from.

Good value for money, price around $140 for double.
