My other half and I stayed here for a weekend break. Receptionist was lovely but had a lack of understanding in the credit card pre authorisation process. This was made worse by a new receptionist on the check out day who tried to charge me again until I explained that they had already reserved funds out off my account and that should be taken or unreserved first! But I've just seen my bank statement and they took the amount and still have funds on reserve !!!! Not good!!!!!
On other notes, location was good staff seem friendly in the bar but not so friendly in the restaurant. The room was ok French doors did not open, the roof in the bathroom required some work due to flaking.

Thanks for taking the time to review us. The credit card procedure we operate here is quite a standard operating procedure. When making a reservation on-line guests are required to secure the room with a credit card. It is not always the case that the guest booking the room with their credit card stays in the room, therefore upon check-in either the same credit card or another is asked for to pre-authorise your stay usually to the value of your room plus £25 per night to cover any additional costs.
When checking out the guests credit card that was pre-authorised will be charged with the original code to complete the payment, charging only what the guests have used. If the bill is less than the pre-authorisation amount, those funds are released back into your account, depending on your bank this could take up to 5 working days.
I hope this clarifies things and i apologise for the inconveniance this may have caused, please come agin.

We stayed here for our 3rd anniversary and where very lucky to have been upgraded. We went to SW4 which was excellent and the hotel was situated in the perfect place for drinks before and after. We could see the main stage from our room. The room was spacious and the bathroom was very clean we had air con and heating which could be adjusted and my hubby managed to sleep in the extremely comfy bed ( he can't normally sleep anywhere but our bed)

The staff where all amazing and very friendly breakfast was yummy and we will be booking for next year.

Thanks again xx

This is a very pleasant hotel. The rooms big and for London this is good value. The breakfasts are good and plentiful. There is a pub on site which is very popular but we heard no noise. My only complaint beds were comfortable but soft and pillows hard and thin. Old pillows, bring your own.

We are glad you found our hotel pleasant and even happier you enjoyed our breakfast. A little disappointed about the pillows, for next time - just ring reception we have plenty of extras of varying levels of hardness we would be happy to deliver to your room. See you again soon.

We booked this hotel because we needed to be in Clapham, not because we particularly liked the look of the hotel, but we were very pleasantly surprised. This is a very nice hotel, in a lovely part of Clapham (just on the edge of the Common) and staffed by some extremely pleasant and helpful people. The room was nicely furnished, lots of power points, two large mirrors, immaculate white bedding, tea and coffee making facilities, spotless bathroom complete with lots of fluffy white towels. The air conditioning unit was quiet and very efficient. We had room service on Saturday night which was brought quickly, was still hot and was delicious and not badly priced. The room was extremely quiet and I thought that maybe the hotel was only half full, but there were lots of people, including families with children, at breakfast the next morning. This was in a very nice conservatory, just off the dining room, and was equally delicious. Special touches included the day, date and day's weather forecast on the breakfast menu, butter in dishes (not in tiny packets) and the best honey I've tasted in a very long time. Considering that breakfast was included and parking was free, this was very good value for money. Would happily stay again and for longer next time.

We stay fairly often as we have family in Clapham. The hotel is comfortable, clean and there is a good breakfast. The evenings are busy but we have never been disturbed by late night noise. We now book a superior room as standard is quite small.
For visitors, the tube into Central London is easy.

We have stayed here twice, as it is very handy for visiting family in Clapham. Each time, we took a superior double room.
The 1st room was I renovated and definitely tired, but comfortable. The 2nd room had been renovated, and looked much fresher, but for us it was neither as comfortable or as practical. For example, the chairs were not comfortable and there was no drawer space for clothes. It's a nuisance living out of suitcases for a week!
However, the rooms were clean and (despite the very active bar scene downstairs) quiet.
There's no lift, so take light luggage if you can't secure a ground floor room.
The staff were very helpful (including with luggage).
The included breakfast was ample and adequate. We didn't try the evening meal choices, but there are so many good places to eat nearby that you are spoiled for choice.
Location is very handy, with buses virtually at the front door, and a tube station 10 minutes away in either direction. A really good feature is the expanse of Clapham Common just outside. Great for walking, running etc, although not so great when some overamplified event is conducted there from 8 am on a Saturday morning.
One complaint is the absurd heat level in the corridors, which seeps into the rooms and makes them very hot. There is room air conditioning, but its not quiet (at least, in our room). You can open the windows, but again probably would want to. Close them at night for quietness.
It's good honest value accommodation, without too many frills but with a decent level of comfort. They must be doing something right, because it is regularly booked out.

Thanks for taking the time to right as much detail as you have, we are having a full hotel refurbishment starting in October this year, we are adding 12 more rooms and your comments are vital to pass to the designers of the rooms, we have already requested wardrobes with chest drawers, the air-conditioning is being replaced in the whole venue, but we do aim to please and we want your stay to be comfortable. Again thankyou for taking the time to write and we apologise for any inconveniance. We hope you come back and visit us again soon.
