“A bit far away from facilities & reception!”
Reviewed 11 December 2007

The main reception and facilities are a 5 minute walk away, with a bar attached. If you want somewhere quieter and more secluded, the Orient Espresso is down an alleyway upstairs above a coffee shop.

Good facilities at the St Christophers Inn, a great chill out room and fun bar. Would be better to stay at The Village if you want to have more fun.

Staff were good but not overly friendly.

Perfect to meet people and a good location near the tube!

Stayed December 2007

We have just returned from a pleasant stay at the Orient Espresso in London. The first impression was that it was clean. The showers and toilets were cleaned everyday. We are a group of five people who booked an entire dorm room of six beds to get privacy. For a hostel the comfort is good we all thought. In our group there are members from 15 year-olds to 52 year-olds.
The breakfast is continental, toast with jam and corn flakes with milk and coffee and tea and it is served at the hostel where the reception is. Of the three hostels at this street the Orient Espresso is very quiet and the party was probably at the St Christopher's Village.
The staff was nice and very helpful. The system with keycards is good as well.
The beds were bunkbeds with OK matresses, and very clean linen.
The location was close to the underground London Bridge and also very close to buses. I can also recommend the airport transfer service which can be booked through the hostel's homepage. The coach took us from the airport directly to the hostel which was very comfortable.

Ok, so Londons expensive but we found the rooms at the Orient Espresso were more prison cell like in their appearence. Also, there was the hastle of going further down the road to check in and have breakfast!
Some rooms didnt have electrical sockets and even in the depths of winter were really stuffy so cant imagine what it would be like come summer ! On the plus side its really quiet - if thats what you want!
Security is good with swipe cards on doors. Its about 5 min walk from London Bridge tube station.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Oasis in London Bridge is exactly what it sounds like - a protected retreat of tranquillity just for girls, right in the heart of London. This youth hostel shares a check in, reception and breakfast area with the St Christopher's at the Village hostel - so there's plenty of opportunities to meet fellow travellers from all walks off life and you get to make the most of the on-site nightclub, cinema, comedy club, bar and restaurant - also at the Village. Add to that the fact that Borough Market and the Tower of London are on your doorstep from this location, and you're guaranteed to have a good time. When you've finished tasting the many free food samples at the belly bulging Borough Market, an amazing walking route along the River Thames is only minutes away. After you pass The London Dungeons and Sir Francis Drake's ship - the Golden Hinde, this path heads west to take in St Paul's Cathedral, the amazing and free Tate Modern Gallery, the OXO Tower, Gabriel's Wharf, the British Film Institute, the Southbank Centre, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament! Needless to say, you won't be at a loss for something fun to do! This London Bridge location is also a short train ride away from Greenwich with its famous observatory where time is set, the Maritime Museum, the 02 Arena and the Cutty Sark tea clipper!
