We had booked this hotel for one night as a family of 4. We had booked a quad room through a re-seller site and got a stonking deal that included breakfast. We drove from the midlands and was able to park the car in the streets behind the hotel , saving the £30 a night parking the hotel charges. On a weekend local parking is fine.
We arrived about 11am and was told the room was not ready, so we dumped the bags with the concierge and headed into London. We got back at 11pm! Using a technique that always works at Marriott hotels we got upgraded to a suite! We had a large bedroom and large king size bed. Sitting room, kitchen with fridge, hob, washer machine. Large bathroom, with 2 showers (one with side jets) The kids has put-me-up singles that we arranged in the Lounge area. Was great. We had 2 TV sets!
Breakfast was amazing (make sure you get it included in the room rate as its pricey otherwise!). Even had a little area for kiddies with sugary cereals, waffles etc. I was going to list it all, but there is all types here, breads, continental, salami, fish, fresh meats, cereals and the usual full cooked English. Fresh juices, great coffee etc. You get the idea.
A special shout out to the staff. From the young lady who checked us in, to the guy who came to make up our beds, to random staff you meet in the hotel, polite, friendly and genuinely nice.
There are lots of buses that pass the hotel. We used them a lot to get all around London. The tube is a 5 min walk and can get you anywhere. I have read past reviews and I strongly urge that the "slightly out of central London" is a strong advantage. No congestion charge which means you can drive right up to it and park for free locally.
There is lot of little touches that helps your stay and make you feel your in a nice place. There is always a jug dispenser with iced water on the go at reception. On hot days its great. Plus a little popcorn trolley that the kids helped themselves too every time we went through reception.
We used the swimming pool the hotel has an agreement to use next to the hotel in a local gym. Its not a big pool, but the kids loved it, it also has a steam room and sauna. We went Sunday morning at 9 and had the place to ourselves for the first 30 mins. They even provide you towels. The kids loved it and built up an appetite for the lovely breakfast. Which was served until 11 am on Sundays.
Locally there is a star bucks next door, over the road is a foreign shop (next to a great pub) which sell products to local people. Ie 4 cans of soda (sprite) cost less than £2. Large bottles of water (1.5L) were 50p. Try to beat that in London. Turn right out the hotel and walk 5 mins and there is all kind of shops. KFC through to Primark, these are local shops for local people so you dont get the London "Mark up". Yet only 15 mins to central London. I dont think you can beat the location.
We wont stay anywhere else now in London. Happy to take questions through the messaging system.
