“Could use improvements”

The apartment was in safe nice location and nice; however, it could be improved by adding certain amenities like more china, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans. The kitchen was not well equipped for us a party of four who stayed 3 weeks. Also the linens were inadequate. `in 3 weeks we were given one dishtowel. For bathing only one large towel and one small towel each. After complaining for two weeks, we were finally given two large towels each. The fridge is small. The washer/dryer takes hours for one load. The king sized bed is really more like a queen size. There was no soap dish in the baths. `in spite of all this, we did have an enjoyable stay as area was easy to access, safe, quiet. `i suggest the management pay more attention to details like a salt and pepper shaker, towels, and other things mentioned which would have made the apartment really perfect.

“Nice enough flat; pity about the (lack of) service”

Location of flat:
The flat allocated to us by the letting agency was in the Da Vinci Lodge apartment building, right on the Village Square in Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV). A small grocery store, a pharmacy and a delightful little spa-cum-(vegetarian) café are within a stone’s throw of the flat. The near-by road is serviced by several bus routes, but Greenwich North Tube station is a mere ten minute stroll from the flat. A lovely country pub (The Pilot Inn) is within a five minute walk and offers a surprising range of beverages, combined with some truly tasty food. By Tube, Westminster is just 15 minutes away, Victoria Station 20 minutes (including one line change). Also within a ten minute stroll is a pier for the river boat service which offers a fun alternative to travelling into the city centre by Tube; the Emirates cable car over the Thames; the London Soccer Dome; a small Tesco Express; and, of course, the O2 Arena. In front of the O2, facing the Peninsula Square, are several bars and restaurants including old favourites such as Wagamama. Inside the O2 complex itself, there is not only the well-known concert arena but also a multiplex cinema, the Sky studios, the British Music Experience and a multitude of bars and restaurants.

Flat review:
We stayed in a fifth floor flat at Da Vinci Lodge. The flat was well serviced by a roomy elevator. This flat has a wrap around balcony from which we had views of part the Greenwich Ecology Park to one side, and distant views of the high-rise office buildings at Canary Wharf (which look attractive when lit up at night) and part of the O2 Arena (aka Millennium Dome) on the other side. There is also a small terrace off the double bedroom, with some views of the Thames Flood Barrier.
Accommodation was well proportioned throughout, allowing lots of natural light into bright and airy rooms. Solid timber floors and stylish IKEA furniture gave the flat a fresh, modern feel. Kitchen appliances were clean and hygienic; kitchen implements and crockery very much on the sparse side. The free WiFi was much slower than one would expect in a city such as London, but nonetheless appreciated. Importantly, the quality of mattresses and bedding was very good.
Suggestions made by us to the owners of the flat, regarding some noticeable wear and deterioration of some fittings and furniture, and the addition of some small items most people would consider necessary in any flat, were hopefully taken onboard in order to reclaim the flat’s advertised place in the “luxury” bracket.

Letting agency:
Unfortunately, in our case, the flat and its owners were badly let down by the letting office acting on their behalf. Staff there has clearly allowed some neglect (of the flat) and less than satisfactory service (to their guests) to creep into their routine. An unprofessional check-in and its associated issues were thankfully promptly and courteously resolved by the owner. An equally disappointing check-out left us with a regrettably negative last experience, not with the flat but with the (lack of) service we were subjected to. Our disappointment in this regard is reflected in our rating.

“Place needs to be cleaner and items repaired or replaced - it's a little tired...”

First it was difficult to pay for the unit, wouldn't take PayPal, wouldn't take a credit card or personal check, had to be either international bank transfer or cash in pounds sterling upon arrival. More cash than can be taken out of an ATM in one day so presented a real problem.

Main view not really of the river but the swamp in the rear with a side view of the shipping area.

Unit not very clean, the balcony was totally disgusting, covered in pigeon droppings and cobwebs, and in addition to the cost of the unit they required 50 pounds up front for cleaning the unit after we left!.

Not traveler friendly - i.e. no; paper towels, salt and pepper, ice, bar soap, shampoo, garbage bags, extra toilet paper, we had to buy all the basic items before we could really enjoy our stay.

In regard to disrepair; the sliding glass door had a crack in the glass, would not close properly, guest bath fan did not work and tub drain was clogged, safety chain on entrance door broken, no toilet paper holders, no bath mat in master bed bath, shower flooded floor and no extra towels to mop up the mess, defective leaky iron and more.....

Unit furniture was very sparse and not appointed very attractively. Light switches did not really switch anything except in the kitchen area.
