Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting..

Irrespective of what anyone thinks of today's politicians, this is a superb tour through the history of the palace. Steeped in history, stories, and procedures. Found it fascinating - superb. Tour guide very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Impressive from the outside, it's well worth taking a tour of the inside during recess.
To arrange a tour when you're in the area, from the Houses of Parliament walk over the bridge, turn right and the office is just across the road.
We took an audio tour - the equipment was easy to use and the commentary is very informative. It was fascinating to see inside, particularly the House of Commons. Because of timed entrances for tours it was uncrowded inside and the tour can be taken at your own pace.

You don't have to be political to visit, these building are being cared for our kids and generations to come. The House of Commons and Lords look bigger on the TV
But other parts are outstanding great .However was disappointed one could not book tea on the terrace at the ticket office when told we could, we had tried on line, lack of communication /training there, also quite expensive(£25)considering we pay for it. And you are not allowed to take pictures.

Great audio tour. My suggestion would be to buy the tickets in advance online. We bought the tickets the day of, and had to go across the street to a different building to buy the tickets. It was kind of a pain to fight all the London tour groups to get to the other building. The ticket sales office staff were not exactly the nicest people.

Being interested in history and politics, and the Westminster system, I was quite excited to take this tour. It's quite easy to book your tour via the Parliament website.

I took the guided tour, which was very informative and somewhat entertaining. I found it enthralling to be in the House of Commons and House of Lords chambers, which I have seen before on videos on the Internet. The interiors are also obviously ornately decorated and well preserved. Of course, your enjoyment depends on your interest.

Other things I found interesting were the old and rather quirky traditions still observed by both chambers.
