Owner description: Temporarily Closed Elizabeth Tower is the name of the famous clock tower which stands at the Houses of Parliament. The name Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell. The Elizabeth Tower was completed in 1859 and the Great Clock started on 31 May. The Great Bell's strikes were heard for the first time on 11 July and the quarter bells first chimed on 7 September. All visits to Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower tours are now suspended due to refurbishment with the last tour having taken place on 16 December 2016. Tours are scheduled to resume in early 2020 once the work is complete. Visitors can still book tickets for a number of other tours at the Houses of Parliament which take place on Saturdays throughout the year and on weekdays during Parliamentary recesses.

once you get out of the Westminster underground station you see the Parliament buildings and Big Ben. it is a very impressive building and you have to take a picture of you in front of the great clock. looking at it you can see the workmanship and detail that was put in to such a beautiful building. the whole are surrounding is beautiful as well and you can just stroll around a bit and take it in.

A great clock. Still look so elegant. Well maintained. Must take a photo with this a building in the back ground. Looks more elegant across Thames in night. Must spend some time around this.

Big Ben is actually the name of a bell inside one of the tower in this building. The building looks spectacular from the banks of the River Thames and even more attractive from the top of London Eye....Needless to say one must go for the river cruise on the Thames to capture some good photographs of Big ben.....I enjoyed every moment there....more so may be because Big ben brought some nostalgic feelings...It was one of the screensavers of my first ever computer...Seeing it with the naked eyes definitely was the best part of Lonodn!!! :)

The name pretty much sums it up, the most famous clock in the world. Watch as the people stand around listening for the ring on the hour. Must see when visiting this wonderful city.

A breathtaking building attached to the Houses of Perlimants on the Thames River. We certainly enjoyed walking on the bridge coming from London Eye to the Big Pen. You can also have a good view of the Big Pen up from the London Eye.
