Years ago you could walk along Downing Street and look at the door to Number 10. Now the closest most of us get is the huge black security gate guarded by heavily armed police.
I suppose it is a stop off point along Whitehall, like the entrance to Horse Guards Parade on a walking trip. Most tourists might like the photo op and we have taken several visitors on the walk from Parliament Square to Nelson's Column. But I cannot really give it more than one star unless you can get inside the official residence.
