“Fun for fans.”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

Even though it's not the same as the new Sherlock show, it is still an interesting representation of a house of the Victorian period. Very casual atmosphere--they let you wander, touch things, put on the hat, pretend to smoke the pipe if you dare, sit in the chairs. And they have mannequins to show different scenes from different stories/books. Fun stuff!

We were aware that Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character but being fans decided to see what we could see. Although we went at a non-peak time, queues were significant as the interior of the attraction is quite small so entry is staggered to minimise overcrowding. While you are waiting, make time to dress up and have a photo with the character at the door (could be a policeman, maid etc) to immortalise your visit. Once you've entered the 'dwelling' of the great detective, you can travel at your own pace although as mentioned conditions are cramped. The displays are static but fans will recognise nods to the literary canon, assisted by the information leaflet. Staff of the attraction are very friendly and happy to engage with you. The adjoining shop had a wide range of goods but due to the large numbers of visitors it can take time to purchase this memorabilia. For the die hard fans, next door again is Mrs Hudson's tea shop if you need some refreshment. I found a highlight of this attraction to be the folder of letters written to Sherlock Holmes by people all over the world (most of which think he is real) - some of these are hilarious.

“For big fans”
Reviewed 18 August 2014 via mobile

It's really for great fans. The waiting time can be more than 2 hours, and the building is small with some scenes and characters recreation as the Holmes' room itself. More expensive than it should be.

“mystery is how do they get away with this.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

two hour queue for a few rooms of old tat. Seriously do people really think Holmes was real? Shoved into rooms of junk by uninterested staff and as for the manaquines rotting on the top floor it sealed the joke. £10 wasted and left with a feeling of being cheated.

“Wish we had known about the wait”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Had not realised how long the wait would be. The queue went on for ages - told two hours until getting in. Got there at 12 noon on Saturday in August, expected some wait but three times we tried to get in but gave up as you cannot book in advance or for a time slot. Too busy in shop too could not see much. Will try again when the tourists are a but thinner on the ground! Very disappointed.
