We visited as a group as part of a Saturday evening birthday celebration. Originally booked at one of the three outside tables, the weather was such that Medlar quickly found us space inside; just as well we had booked for an early dinner as the restaurant was full by the time we left.
The evening offer is three courses for £46, with about ten choices for each course. I had crab ravioli followed by roast monkfish. Both were well executed although there was a bit too much tomato with the monkfish for my taste. Cheese followed for which there is an additional £5.50 charge, well worth it for what was an extensive selection of well ripened and varied cheeses. My husband enjoyed all three of his selections, duck egg tart, saddle of rabbit with leg confit and raspberry frangipane tart. Servings are good sized and although we never normally have three courses, we did not feel overfull by the end of the meal.
The very extensive wine list runs to some 30 pages starting with a few wines at the £30 mark but rapidly reaching £40 plus for most. We found a very acceptable Italian Pecorino at £31.
With an aperitif each (Kir Royale's) and a glass of port with my cheese, our share of the bill for the two of us was £160; not cheap but you do get what you pay for.
My only disappointment arose from my expectation of seeing wild turbot on the menu, only to be told that it had been removed from the menu the previous day!
Nonetheless we still had a most enjoyable meal in pleasant "brasserie" type surroundings with good attentive service.
