We stayed here from August 11-16. Our confirmation from booking.com said that check-in was from 3:00-9:00 PM, but when we arrived around 4:00 PM, there was a sign saying that they were at their sister hotel, and left a number to call. However, as we were from the US, we didn't have a phone with which to call, which meant we had to walk down the road a half mile or so with all of our luggage. It seems to me that this problem could've been avoided if they simply communicated a bit better about checking in upon booking. We stayed in one of the en-suite rooms, and were pleased with the size and cleanliness. The bathroom in particular was huge and seemed pretty new. The room we were in didn't have any windows other than a bathroom skylight which was too high to reach. There was a back door that led outside, but it was locked. Therefore the room could get stuffy. However, the receptionist was able to get us a fan, which helped immensely. The cleaning person came each day and provided us with whatever we needed. The bed was comfortable, outside of the fact that the bed frame was broken in one corner which made the mattress collapse closer to the floor on that side. The television, as others have pointed out, is mounted strangely high on the wall, and is hard to watch from anywhere on the bed. There was a large closet, which helped with storing our piles of luggage. The neighborhood was great, and the guest house is only about a ten minute walk from the Clapham Common stop, a walk filled with cool shops and restaurants. Overall, probably more like 3.5 stars, and, even with the problems, a really great place to stay for the price.
