“Glorious window - wonderful”
Review of St. Etheldreda's

A quiet, holy place to sit and ponder or - as we did today - catch part of a service and feel immediately part of the experience ... the absolutely glorious window with light streaming through ... so much history here; such faith demonstrated ... a real feeling of certainty and goodness and peace

We took the children to a Latin mass, we arrived pulling cases, but no one minded. Go to a service if you have time, the congregation though small was welcoming and it's a fascinating view of a very different London! Otherwise visit just to have a good look around and feel the tranquility.

Wonderful historic church to visit as well as attend mass. Absolutely beautiful. Loved the mass sung in Latin.

My friend had her wedding here at St Etheldreda's Church, the oldest Catholic church in London. Only a small church, it was the perfect setting for friends and family who travelled from all four corners of the globe. In the midst of old London, it is tucked away in a blink and you miss it sideroad, quiet and intimate.
A magical place for any one to visit not just the faithful.

A gem of a place, the Bishop of Ely's pre-Reformation medieval chapel now back with the Catholic Church so a huge rarity for that reason. Poignant 20th century statues of Catholic martyrs under the Tudors - boatman, lady in waiting, Jesuit etc - fit very well and add to sense of survival against the odds. Beautiful and moving sung Latin mass at 11.00 am every Sunday with professional choir - but a quiet and intense, inward looking sort of mass. People tend to the 'stick your tongue' out method at Communion but you're welcome to put a hand out as more usual these days. Would strongly recommend. And it's got a loo and free parking around Hatton Garden streets. My favourite mass in London for aesthetic reasons - but spiritually uplifting too.
