I have just returned home after staying for three nights with my wife and two kids (12 & 17 years old). We had two small, but perfectly formed, twin rooms, with comfortable beds and en suite. Ideal size for our stay. The rooms were very clean and we had fresh towels every day. We never had any problem with getting hot or cold water at any time, dispite the fact that we were on the 4th floor. A bit of a trek up there, but I personally wouldn't complain.
Very friendly staff and great service throughout our stay. Great breakfasts, and again the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We got a very good rate when you consider the central location, very handy for Paddington tube and main line stations. Plenty of pubs, restaurants and local shops nearby. We were even allowed to leave our baggage after we had booked out, so as we could make the most of our last day, before we finally left London. The building itself could do with a bit of a 'makeover' on some of the inside parts, but thats just an observation. It would definately NOT put me off from staying here again and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend St. Davids to any of my friends or family. All in all a very good place to stay. Well done to ALL the staff!

The TripAdvisor reviews were spot on -- the staff is friendly and interesting, and the location is excellent. It's about a two-minute walk to Paddington (where you can catch trains to Bath, Oxford, etc. as well as the Underground). Our triple room had one double bed, one single bed, and a cruise cabin-sized bathroom. The included breakfast choices were a full English breakfast, or cereal, yogurt, croissants, and toast. Everything tasted good. However, the facilities do need updating. There's only wifi in the lobby and the dining room, which was quite a trek from our 3rd floor room. We often had trouble getting cold water out of the bathroom faucet and when we tried the pipes would make a loud banging noise. I would recommend bringing all-in-one soap and/or travel shampoo -- the one soap provided is a tiny disc (but that seems to be typical for the price). Earplugs are also a good idea. Overall, I would stay there again because the price is a great deal for the location.

St. David's exceeded my expectations. Great little hotel on beautiful Norfolk Square. Was lucky to have a room facing the square with a tiny little one step wide balcony. The room was small as is the norm for a European hotel, but not crazy small. It was very comfortable, great pillow and blanket, odd little bathroom in the room but can't complain as it all functioned perfectly. Staying on Floor 1, the wi-fi worked without issue in my room, and worked quickly. The breakfast was an amazing, huge, full English style and so good! The best part though – the staff. They were all so very nice and helpful. Really really great people running this place!

This is a small hotel. The rooms are small, the stairwell is small and the dining room is small. On the other hand, the service is big hearted and the location (just a cuople of minutes walk) of the big Peddington station can make all the difference.
The area is very nice with a lot of bars and restaurents and a lot of public transport.
Because London is expensive, this hotel is a good value for money options for those who seek clean rooms, nice enviorment and options to travel around.

Room Tip: to avoide carrying your bags to the top floor up a small and stip stairwell (the hotel doesn't h...

My wife and I, in our early 60’s, stayed 3 nights at St. David’s Hotels in February, 2012. We would recommend it as a very good value given the price.

The hotel’s location was very convenient to all the downtown areas. It was just a short walk to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park and only one block from a Tube station.

The personnel working there were very focused on providing good information and advice about the city. They also provided very responsive service. For example, I was cheerfully served oatmeal on request even though it wasn’t a usual part of the breakfast served. Also, we didn’t have towels or soap in the room when we arrived, but, when we asked, we received both immediately. The next day, one of the managers asked us to confirm we had originally not been given the towels/soap, which suggests to us that he will identify why that happened to help make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.

A couple of negatives.. The rooms and shower were relatively small. Also, there was no Wifi connectivity in the rooms, although the staff says the hotel is working actively on getting that done.

For various reasons, connectivity is particularly important to us as we travel. Therefore, we would probably not stay there again unless wifi is available in the room. However, if it is, we would not hesitate to stay there again.

We had a very nice experience here. The service was good, the rooms definitely suited our needs. The bathrooms are a little bit weird, but there's nothing wrong with them (it's almost like they put porta potties in the rooms, don't worry they DO flush, but they're their own little units). Everything was definitely old, but clean. There's no elevator, and we were on the fourth (top) floor, but the walk isn't terrible. The breakfast is definitely good, and the staff are all really helpful; they advised us about getting good deals on the trains, etc.
It is a little bit noisy from the square down below, but I wore earplugs and didn't have any sleep troubles. Also, I wasn't a big fan of the Paddington area, but it's about two minutes walk from the train/undergound station which is great, and not too far from anything else if you're walking everywhere.
I'm surprised to hear that this is a two-star hotel. I'd figure it would be three. It's a fantastic deal and if you're not going for luxury, it's just about perfect.

Well, this Hotel was a very pleasant suprise. Located in the center of London, 1 minutes away from the Paddington Station (underground and trains) and near the Hyde Park, it's perfect for the budget. Ok, it's a two star hotel, so, don't expect luxuries. But, for someone who is just travelling and visiting london, like me, was perfect! We just needed it to sleep and shower! Very comfortable beds, very nice english and continental breakfast. Very clean. Above all, the people there is fantastic! Super nice! The owner, George, the wife, Folla, and the son, Alex are perfect, so does the rest of the staff (such as Pavan), always with a smile on their faces! I stayed with more friends in rooms 414 (twin) and 415 (triple) (4th floor) in February when it snowed. It was super comfortable with the heating working perfectly! No cold at all inside the building! Excelent temperature. I will definately come back again the next times i visit london! I already miss London and these people.

Even though all the positive things, there are some aspects to take in mind:
1 - the underground goes near the hotel, so, try to avoid basement and ground rooms if you are a light sleeper.
2 - the hotel doesn't have elevator and it's 4 storeys high. if you have trouble climbing, choose a low hight room.
3 - if you are looking for luxuries, this is not the hotel for you. if you just need a place to sleep, it's the best! :)
4 - the rooms are small if this bothers you.

Room Tip: Rooms facing norfolk square are hotter. Avoid ground and basement rooms if you are light-sleeper, b...
