“Good Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Stayed here for 1 night.

Check in is from 1pm and we got there just after 12 noon. Room not ready but allowed to keep luggage so we could go out and about.

Holborn Tube was about a 4 min walk away which was great. Hotel was clean and Ok to put head down in a Double bed which was comfortable enough. Single glazed windows so was quite noisy and would be better if black out blinds/curtains were installed.

Staff - reception staff.were a little short (not in height but in attitude) a smile would of not hurt.....

Breakfast, as others have said was plentiful and very quick. Good hotel to stay in and at only £98 for the night was cheap for London.

Despite being a great central location the hotel is in a really quiet street. Our family room was on the top floor & no lifts due to age of building but bags were carried up for us which was appreciated as 3 flights of steep stairs. Room was clean. Beds comfortable & fan provided (hot during our stay!). En suite small but serviceable. Only two power sockets which made it difficult to charge 3 phones & tablets over night when fan running!! WiFi took a while to kick in.
Good breakfast & very friendly staff. Good value & would definitely recommend to others. Close to tube stations, British Museum (worth visiting) & easy walk to Covent Garden - around 15 to 20 mins.

All in all a great find & enjoyed our two nights there.

I spent 4 nights at the Thanet Hotel in June and it was wonderful. The Hotel is dated but very clean and the employees were great. The English Breakfast was fantastic and tasty. The Thanet was our home away from home. We all loved the location so closed to everything. We walked everywhere from here. My next trip to London I will definitely stay here again.

We've just had a lovely two night stay at the Thanet hotel. When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly. Although we had booked a double room we received a family room with a double and a single bed. The room was very spacious with a pleasent view overlooking Bedford Place. Both bedroom and bathroom were very clean and provided all the essentials that we needed eg: hair dryer, TV, tea/coffee making facilities. Due to it being very hot during our stay we were very grateful for the electric fan. Breakfast was delicious with a vast selection of cereals, fresh fruit, juices, youghurts as well as your full cooked English breakfast. Being just a 15 minute walk from Shaftesbury avenue and covent garden it was ideal for our theatre visits. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and we look forward to returning soon!

I spent three nights here, and overall was very pleased. The location is fabulous -- in Bloomsbury, around the corner from the British Museum; steps from beautiful Russell Square and wonderful bookstores; walking distance from pretty much anywhere in central London. I had a room facing the garden; it was amazingly quiet and overlooked a huge tree (plane?) of the same vintage as those in Russell Square. I would not stay in a basement or ground floor room. My room was very basic; carpet tired and not overly clean -- what a difference it would make if the owners replaced it with, say, engineered wood flooring (and the extra soundproofing that it will require).
For the price of the room, I would expect a folding luggage rack (or two), esp. since there was nowhere to put clothes other than a small wardrobe. I would have preferred a no-breakfast option as I have dietary restrictions and ate elsewhere. But the breakfast options were generous.
Wifi usually worked, but not always. Not the nicest hotel of my trip but for insanely expensive London it was a good deal; I plan to return.

Room Tip: HIgher floors overlooking garden.
