“excellent hotel, but”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

The hotel is ideally placed for the Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens (all a 10 minute walk); the Natural History and V A museums (20 mins) and South Kensington and Gloucester Road tube stations (also 20 mins). The Décor is very swish, very modern and very comfortable. My room was very clean with very efficient and quiet air-conditioning and the MOST COMFORTABLE bed I have ever slept in.
Adequate space in the wardrobe but no drawer space in the whole room - most odd.
The bathroom was well stocked and the shower powerful, but oh dear, the shower cubicle at 26" square, way too small.
The instructions for the room safe detailed in the room brochure are for a 4 pin code with a reset button but the safe operates with a 6 pin code and no reset button.
Would I stay in this hotel again - most definitely if matched with a roomier shower cubicle.

Room Tip: ensure the room has a large enough shower cubicle

Dear Les H,

First of all thank you for your wonderful comments on your recent stay with us.

We are absolutely delighted to hear you had such a pleasant stay and that you found the hotel to be beautifully decorated and our facilities comfortable and adequate. Our priority is to always ensure our guests feel at home and enjoy a great time with us. When these efforts are acknowledged it makes all our efforts worthwhile.

I am very sorry to hear that the shower in your room seemed too small. Most our rooms are equipped with a bathtub with a shower and they offer enough space for a comfortable and relaxing wash. The few rooms which offer a walk in shower may indeed seem smaller.

I hope we have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Please contact us directly for availability and rates. Also, please kindly ask for a room with a bathtub and I can assure you you will enjoy your stay with us even more!

Kind regards,

Assistant Manager

My colleges and I had a week long stay at the Queens Gate in June and had an excellent experience. Great value for money, (and I have been traveling to London for over 25 years so I speak from experience.). The rooms are large by European standards and house keeping was perfect. Front desk staff and bar staff were professional and knowledgable . Location was handy to tube stops, museums, and Knightsbridge area. This hotel is one of best kept secrets in London! Stay there, but don't tell anyone else!

I stayed with a friend for a weekend away. We had an executive room and upgrading to this for the larger space is well worth it. Air con worked great as London was so warm at the weekend. We had a walk in wardrobe and everything in the bathroom was perfect. The selection at breakfast was really good with gorgeous freshly squeezed orange juice.
The only downsides are the 10 minute walk to South Kensington Tube Station, but not a lot can be done about that and the Wi-Fi wasn't great - they maybe need to look at upgrading the speed? Apart from that, really good hotel with great décor and large rooms!

Room Tip: Upgrade to an Executive Room - so much more space!! Well worth it.

Dear Mandy O,

Thank you very much for taking your time to comment on your recent stay with us and your fantastic comments.

It is really great to read that you praise the quality of our services as well as the comfort and elegance of our rooms. Our staff strive to offer all our guest attentive and personalized service making them feel at home.

Our hotel is located in am old Victorian building and after the recent refurbishment, we have aimed to keep the Victorian splendor of the 19th century townhouse, which makes every room different in shape and size.I am extremely happy you found our executive rooms specious and comfortable. Your online recommendation is highly appreciated!

I am sorry to hear the Tube station seem a little bit of a walk. Unfortunately, for those travelling on Piccadilly Line South Kensington Station is the only option as a station closer to us - Gloucester Road Station is presently closed for refurbishment.

We hope you had a save journey and we would be glad to get another chance to welcoming you in the near future.

Kind regards,

Assistant Manager

Dear Don J,

Thank you very much for your fantastic comments about your stay with us.

We are thrilled to hear that you found our rooms to be that spacious. We pride ourselves in being one of the few hotels in the area with family and triple rooms, and apart from the excellent location, they are one of our strongest points.

Thank you very much for mentioning our great location at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The area is filled with attractions for all ages and we are sure they can satisfied even the fussiest ones.

We will be more than happy to welcome you again on your next visit to London.

Thank you very much once again for sharing your experience with the online community and for your great feedback.

Yours sincerely,

Well decorated and modern, we had a pleasant stay, even if the hotel looks more like a 3 stars hotel than a 4 stars one. The room was small but modern and quiet with a nice view over the street. The breakfast buffet is very good, mix of English and continental. The only negative point is that the tube station is a bit far from the hotel (especially if you have heavy suitcases, 10 to 15 min walk to South Kensington station).

Dear Stephanie B,

First of all thank you very much for taking your time to comment on your recent stay

We are delighted that you have enjoyed your time with us at The Queens Gate Hotel. I am equally pleased that you found the hotel to be well decorated and modern and that it made you feel at home.It is most rewarding to receive such lovely comments as yours.

Our highest aim is to ensure our guests feel comfortable and enjoy a memorable stay with us.
Your kind words about our buffet breakfast are most appreciated.

I am very sorry to hear that you found the station to be too far from the hotel. Unfortunately for those taking Piccadilly Line, South Kensington is the only option available at the moment. The Gloucester Road Station is recently being refurbished and will reopen in December. Our reception staff will gladly order a taxi should the walk be too strenuousness.

Once more thank you very much for sharing your experience with the online community and for your kind words.

Yours sincerely,

Assistant Manager

This hotel has an ideal location. Opposite the Natural History museum and the V&A Museum, not far from tube station and Royal Albert Hall, great bus service. The hotel is lovely, the rooms and bathrooms are small but not minute, but they are spotless and modern. Have stayed in this hotel twice, would return.

The staff are ok but definitely don't go out of their way to be over friendly, however all requests are attended to.

Room Tip: Request the biggest room they have, ahead of time

Dear skintonic,

Thank you very much for taking the time to give feedback on your recent stay at The Queens Gate Hotel.

We are genuinely sorry to read that you found the room to be smaller than expected. Your feedback is extremely important to us and helps us to improve our services and facilities. We do offer a wide diversity of rooms which shape and size may vary due to the antiquity of our building, a 19th century Victorian townhouse. Therefore in your further stays please kindly mention at check-in your desire for a spacious room as we are always willing to find the perfect room for every single guest.

However, I was delighted to read that this did not detract too much from your stay and you enjoyed your time with us. I am thrilled that you found your room to be clean, and tidy and our location was so convenient for your travel purposes.

Your recommendation is highly appreciated and we will be more than happy to welcome you again on your next visit to London.

Thank you very much again for sharing your feedback with the online community and for your kind words.

Our children liked this hotel the best of our entire two week, four hotel vacation in England and France. We had a comfortable "family" room with one king size bed and two twin beds in a generous space. The bathroom was tiny, though. Hyde Park with Kensington Palace is just a short walk away. The breakfast was great, with fresh squeezed orange juice, and as much caffe latte as one would like!
