You have to venture into the Burlington Arcade, even if you could no more afford to shop there, than fly to the moon! It just sparkles...the jewellery shops with the age old adage, if you have to ask...you cannot afford it!!! Who cares..a person can dream!

Lovely arcade near Picadilly where you will find great thungs of luxury style. I loved specially the old Rolex shop where you can find original Rolex watches from 1920 or so....also great cashemer shops and all kimd of luxury things. We were there during Christmas season and the decoration was beautiful.

This is the best known of London's grand shopping arcades. There are others on Piccadilly. The little shops have an air of opulence and this is not a place to count the pennies. Fine leather goods sit alongside dazzling jewels and, for those on a more limited budget, there is plenty of interesting window shopping to be done!

London is a terrific place for filming outdoor scenes for movies, especially movies where the plot puts the story in the previous century. Burlington Arcade is used many times as back drop for 1930's movies. I remember Burlington Arcade from the "Jeeves & Wooster" series and also Agatha Christie's "Poirot". In my opinion it is a terrific place reflecting times gone, with a uniformed concierge at both entrances. The wood paneled shops are charming; the merchandise is a mixed bag, from cheap shawls, second hand jewelry, second hand Rolex's to priceless jewelry and top brand watches. You don't have to buy anything to experience Burlington Arcade. Just walk up and down the Arcade and marvel at the variety of the merchandise and the old world atmosphere of (imaginary) monocles and spats. Not to be missed.

Always seems a bit silly for us "ordinary folks" to be looking in these shop windows, but...... it does not cost anything to look. It gives the rich something to spend their money on I suppose. I would rather be elsewhere.
