This place was so convenient for our trip to London visiting exhibitions. We stayed two nights and were impressed with how quiet our room was considering the busy location so near to Euston station. Although we arrived well before check in time, we were able to leave our luggage while we set off to our first exhibition, and check in later when we returned.
A small hiatus greeted us on our return as one young woman was attempting to deal with several people waiting to check in, while another group were desperate to retrieve their left luggage as their train was departing in 10 minutes. Quite chaotic really! However, she coped well and everyone was patient, but there really should have been more staff available. This meant that the normal pleasantries, and welcoming explanations associated with Premier Inns had to be dispensed with in the cause of effectiveness. Pity really, as all the staff we met later were most pleasant and helpful.
We have learned from past experience to avoid the so called restaurant chains associated with Premier Inns like the plague. However, "Thyme" was new to us and being too tired after a long day to make another trip out we decided to risk it and were most pleasantly surprised. The food although limited in choice, was good, the service was friendly, and helpful, and the prices for London were remarkably low! We enjoyed an adequate dinner, and decided to eat there on our second night. Unfortunately the second time around my wife's steak was quite poor - she simply couldn't cut or chew at least half of it as it was so full of gristle which any reasonable chef should have noticed and not served!! However, staff did offer to replace it, but having eaten the good half of it she couldn't face another whole steak. A large glass of white wine then arrived with the manager's compliments and apologies which was a nice gesture.
Overall we were impressed by this Premier Inn, it is very convenient for anyone arriving at Euston, King's Cross or Paddington. It delivers the Premier Inn package well. It is remarkably quiet, and the restaurant is far better than most chain restaurants in the area. It is also very conveniently situated for all the transport links required to travel around London. Booked well ahead it can also be remarkably cheap!
On our last day they also stored our luggage for us while we travelled around to various galleries. We then collected it just before we caught our late evening train home - that's good service, isn't it?
