“Dreadful hotel in a great position.”

Our room was so tiny we couldn't open the suitcases on the floor. Service was shabby by the guy who manned reception, and this first impression stayed with us the whole time. We had to ask for bath towels which we got, and extra pillows which we didn't get. Breakfast wasn't too bad, although somewhat limiting, and the staff down in the basement where the breakfast room was located worked very hard and somewhat made up for the reception area. Still, it is London, and the place seemed full, so maybe this is what AUD$123 per night buys you here.

Me and my friends stayed here 4 nigths at the end of July, 2013.

The rooms were clean, I didn't encounter the problems presented in the other reviews. We weren't bothered by the small dimensions of room or by the old furniture because we were on the run all day long, so we were happy that this hotel offered us a good place to sleep (we really slept well here) and rest between the trips.
Furthermore, I noticed that they cleaned the room everyday. Maybe it depends on the period...

We served breakfest. The food was ok, but poor.

Overall, I was satisfied with the services provided taking into account the low prices.

This hotel is disgusting. It was dirty, the mattresses were terrible, there was no TV and every time we walked past the front desk the worker was sleeping. This hotel was in a great location but that was the only thing it had going for it.

dont do it. the worse hotel ever. staff were not helpful. At check in the guy was to busy on his phone, via blue tooth. Had to ask for soap, have never done that before. Also the remote for the tv. Again never had to do that before. Also an extra pillow. The room was small and it smelt. Had to leave the toliet door open to pee as the bathroom was so small. If not very tall. The shower curtained was stained.Breakfast was the worse. Very boring. Came down at 930, when it finished and was kicked out at 945. I asked if my window could be opened a guy said that it was broken. Thankful he opened it, with a massive crack appearing. I asked how to turn down the heatting the guy said that he did not know.To top it all off they charged me to look after my bags. 4 pounds for 2 suitcases. When I complianed about it the guy said it is not him it is mangament. They did not have free wifi, the guy said that they charge to use a computer. If I had not pre booked this hotel, through my travel agent I would have left after one night. I booked it for 5 nights. It ruined my holiday. The only good thing is location. Managment does not seem to care about the reviews as everyone has said the samething but nothing has been done

Already a long time ago I booked this hotel. I wish I'd never become aware of this hotel. At arrival the first message was a problem with the waterpressure. We could stay in the hotel next door (we did so; we slept well, breakfast was bad).
Next night we became our room on the fifth floor. How bad can a room

Am not gonna write much just point on 95% of other reviews. The only one good thing about this place is location. The rest is like very bad joke.If you wanna stay here because it's a cheap place be advise that you will be paying for the roof above your head only. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place with pleasant service, clean room, soap in bathroom(!), new and clean towels, well, I'm telling you this is very wrong address. Keep looking, there must be something better then this shi***le. You my friend deserve for something better!

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2013

Christmas (2013 Dec 21-26)

The Apollo hotel in London is probably the worst hotel I´ve ever experienced. Me and my family have been traveling a lot in many different parts of the world but have never felt so cheated before in our lives. Our expectations of the standard in this price level, was very low set from start (especially for being in London). Old houses have their charm, but only to some extent. This hotel is very poorly handled. There are no cleaning made what so ever in corridors and stairways. The carpeted floors are disgusting to say the least. The stairways are very confusing until you have learned them and we were not able to find the ground floor on our first attempt from the 5th floor (Imagine being caught in a fire in this).

The hotel manager (probably the owner) does not have a clue of the meaning of service. He takes all feedback and complaint very personal (and unprofessional). It is actually quite frightening to find out what he is capable of. He tries to get even on our complaints by removing towels and toilet paper from our room and even by turning off our radiator with a tool (blocking the water flow) and open our windows in December while we were outdoors. We were lucky to know how to get the radiators working again using a key – otherwise it would have been a cold night, because he would not have helped us.

Spoke to other guest and they have had the same experience and worse to some point (dirty, no heating, no hot water). Both rooms that we saw contained very uncomfortable beds even for children. I do not dare considering the hygiene level on them. We suffered for 5 nights in them.
On arrival the hotel manager excused himself with that our room was new and that some things were still missing. When we got to the room we noticed that it only contained a double bed and two single beds, nothing more. Nowhere to put/hang clothes (not even a chair), no shower curtains, no mirror, no TV and no window curtains. The room also smelled very badly from drying paint and we said that we could not sleep in this without getting headache. After many walks down to the reception we were finally offered another room (right next to this one). The other room contained all the missing items, but was in very poor condition. This can be ok to some extent, but not in combination with poor cleaning. Then it is only disgusting. This room had the missing shower curtain, but no hot water.

The only cleaning up made during our stay consisted of: making of the beds and emptying of the trash bin. Towels were also shifted and sometimes we had one each without having to visit the hotel reception. Other guests we spoke to, complained about the same things as us and also on no working heating system. They had to sleep with quilts to stay warm during night.
The clientele staying at this hotel seems to be mainly youths (due to price level) and then the fools (like my family) that do not read the existing reviews before booking. Our first night was very noisy to say the least. People were partying all night long (until 3 am), screaming, slamming doors running around. No reaction from the hotel personal. This behavior seems to be ok in this place.

The breakfast is very limited: bread, butter, jam, coffee, juice and milk. The staff is very unprofessional, and don´t even say good morning when you arrive. One morning someone in the staff started to play loud music while my family and other guests were eating. After some time this got annoying, so I went to the kitchen and asked if he could lower the music. I told them that it was hard to make yourself heard with the current music volume. The music was turned off, but after a while the music started again, and we noticed that the hotel manager was in the kitchen door way checking our behavior. He had turned the music on again just to make us upset. We ignored him, finished our breakfast and left.

It seems like the best way to survive a stay at this place is to get up and leave early and come back as late as possible. This approach was used by many guests we talked to. The breakfast incident was the thing leading to our radiator incident (shut down – while our window was opened fully in December while we were outdoors). We were however lucky to return to the room a bit earlier that day in order to get the room heated up before going to sleep.
I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my worst enemy. This option should be removed from all travel sites. The main reasons for this can read in me and my family experiences above.

There are many hotels in this area. Choose another one in order to avoid this type of experience. The way this is handled can only lead to one thing and that is closure. No person with a sane mindset selects this place. Our trip was made in a rush and we actually forgot to read the reviews before booking. That is the back side of paying in advance. All the reviews we have seen after returning home only confirm our experiences. There is absolutely nothing positive with this hotel.

AVIOD IT……

Room Tip: Pick another hotel.
