“A brief visit, we'll be back”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

Intrigued by the chat on the inbound train to London, we decided to look at Whitehall Underground Station.
We were tired and went by taxi from Leicester Square, a lovely ride full of interest.
Decanted at the main door, we looked around and were under the shadow of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I've been in the area before, but never with such a close and stunning view. It all looked so very beautiful. We will be back with cameras when not so travel-weary.
The Station itself is amazing, a sort of "futuristic" layout. There are lifts, but also a lot of walking, which is worthwhile to look at the engineering/architecture.
This is one of the stations that has a glass wall at the edge of the platform; are there more to come besides Canary Wharf? When the train arrives the doors in the "wall" line up with the train doors, and then they all open. Very nice safe feeling, which I imagine is gratefully accepted during rush hours.

“great walk”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

This is a great walk starting from the Westminster Tube Station on an early weekend morning as there is hardly anyone here yet. The crowds during the day are unbelievable and can be overwhelming at times. Anyhow, the walk up from the House of Parliament/Big Ben on pass the Westminster Abbey toward Whitehall passes the Cenotaph and Women's War Memorial along with the 10 Downing St. gates where the British Prime Minister resides. You can actually miss these gates as they blend in with the street. You pass the Horse Guards along the way and then if you continue, you will eventually get up to Trafalgar Square where the center of London is located. A nice historical walk that may take anywhere from 30min. to 1 hr. duration depending how long you stop along the way. Great way to see central London rather than from a bus and heavy traffic. Public bathrooms are available at Trafalgar Square.

“Fascinating history in every building”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

There's something to look up with every building here but I'd save this until after you've had a good walk around and got your bearings, then, if you've got the chance, revisit Whitehall and put the information to what you're seeing. It's an important place in history so much more than just a street or an area.

“Historical and important.”

This is the place that's always on the news so it was great to walk along and see the buildings that house a lot of the government.

“So much in such a short distance!”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

From Trafalgar Square, a walk down Whitehall takes you past some of the most famous buildings relevant to British history, politics and government. You end up near both Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament and then are right next to the Thames and the London Eye, so it's a great part of London to see many of the sights very quickly!
