Description: A member of the iconic fleet dating back to 1873, Nicholson's offers timeless British pub hospitality. A fine stock of smooth and silky cask ales are pulled at the bar, while homely British classics are served in the dining room. The carefully chosen wine list brings together some great international bottles, while a Cask Ale Club is offered for any true beer aficionados.

Following a matinee trip to the Globe we popped across the Millennium Bridge, turned left and headed to The Blackfriar. A wedge-shaped pub (yes, really!), Victorian but refurbished in Art Nouveau in the early years of the 20th Century, it is truly beautiful inside and outside. Very, very noisy - but hey, it's a pub - and the little dining room at the back was full to bursting but they found us a table and the food and drink arrived promptly. Huge burgers - about a pound of meat plus genuinely home made chips and most acceptable red wine. The staff were utterly adorable. Definitely a find if you are anyway near Blackfriars.

Visited here early April 2016. The good - unique and interesting interior décor. The not so good - everything else, terrible food (ordered three separate dishes: aged steak which was stringy and nearly inedible, steak frites same as the aged steak, bangers and mash, chips with the steak, and all were bad), poor and slow service (all of the dishes we wanted were unavailable), ordered pepper sauce with the steaks which wasn't delivered until the meal was nearly eaten. Bottom line - do take a quick peek inside if you are a fan of unique pub interiors but I can't recommend the food, or the beer for that matter. Hack n Hop pub is nearby and the food and beer there are outstanding.

This pub was saved from demolition by Sir John Betjeman amongst others and it is as well that it was because the interior has a fantastic frieze of the everyday life of medieval friars. The pub was crowded with mostly men drinking beer this Friday lunchtime but we were well treated by the very friendly landlord and my five old grandson got proper attention. we had a very enjoyable lunch and the beer was excellent. Next tine I would reserve a table in the small dining room.

Popped in for a couple of drinks on a Friday night and discovered a nice pub, with a good atmosphere and plenty of drinks choice available. Nice place to go if in the Blackfriars area of London.

This is one of the most interesting pubs I have ever been in. The interior is absolutely beautiful. The food was excellent. Would highly recommend it. It is conveniently located right outside of the Blackfriars tube station and is on a quirky corner of the street.
