The Corner Room is the second restaurant within the Townhall Hotel. Unlike the Typing Room it has no separate entrance. Dinner included smoked mackerel pate and chicken liver, "Chicken Caesar",among the starters. Next course included a delicious Chilled Courgette and Celery Soup with Apple, Sultana and Squid, orSmoked Salmon Tartare, Piccalilli, Wasabi and Summer Truffle. Main courses offered Barbecued Lamb Neck Fillet, Red Pepper, mussels and Turnip or John Dory, Kohlrabi, Cornish Crab and Lardo. The fusion of flavours was superb. Desserts if you can manage included Griottines, Honeycomb Ice Cream with Oats or, Blurberry, Meadowsweet, Apple and Doughnut. Another very talented team of young chefs.
Breakfast was sumptuous with a fabulous buffet table including cereals, fruits, meats, cheeses, yogurts, juices. Cooked breakfast offered eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and/or tomatoes in any combination. All freshly prepared and cooked. A very happy team of staff who were efficient and welcoming. Look out for Cornelius Bear and Morrissey Moose!
A great eating experience! Recommend booking.

The food at corner room is top stuff, really exciting fusion and the best food I've tried in a long time, especially where you wouldn't expect to find it, but the staff were a little sloppy, and took our group a while to get there attention even though it wasn't very busy they just didn't seem to cope well! But I can see past this for the food and beautiful decor.

i love love love this place. Never seen so many exciting colours and flavours together, done in such an unpretentious and genuinely enthusiastic way. Staff really friendly and knowledgeable. Dinner is very expensive (but well worth it for a treat). Set lunch for £23 is unbelievably good value - it ends up costing not much less than this in all of those bland, mid-range rip-offs like Zizzi and Ask, and it's cheaper than many snotty gastropubs.

Had breakfast there as stayed in the townhall hotel.Nearly half food gone waste. Too fancy menu for me, I would prefer normal bacon sausages n eggs. Decor is nice and comfy.

The naked emperor's tailor would love The Corner Room. From the Art Deco lobby to the industrial Ercol furnishings and the heavy array of hanging lights, the aesthetic elements of this restaurant were individually excellent and flawless in combination. The food also looked wonderful, delicate compositions of unnaturally bright colours and artful shapes.

The taste however was diabolical. The worst dish was a nauseating green paste dusted with brown onion powder and stuck with eight small radishes (far too few to dispose of all the paste). It was at once bitter and buttery, with a pungent aftertaste that would not fade. A plate of mushrooms tasted nothing like mushrooms apart from a second green paste which was very mushrooms indeed. We were without irony served a miscellany of boiled turnips, including one that tasted like a fish. There was an egg cooked we learned for 30 minutes to ensure a complete absence of texture or taste. There was a small piece of salmon left to age for 12 hours by some unspecified but obviously damaging way. And every dish was sprinkled with tiny fried breadcrumbs, which may have been the highlight.

If you mistake this for edible food it can only be because, like the crowd watching the naked emperor, your senses and judgment have temporally failed you.
