“Great stay in London”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Sue and Peter are very warm and helpful hosts. They gave us many useful tips to help we three forgeiners to travel in London. It's just like a home in UK. I want to thank Sue and Peter again for their help. I really need to apologise for my bad memory. I left my bad in the dining room. Sue had to open the door for me in the very early morening, however, she was still very warm and kind. Since I want to travel in central London and I was worrying about the transport at first, however, it was quite fast and convenient to get to waterloo train station. The room is cosy and decorated well.

Room Tip: the bunk bed in the family room is intresting

What a wonderful review. Many thanks. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that we were able to help with directions and advice. It was no problem when you left your bag behind, it's easy to do. Luckily I heard you (it was very early - 500am) or it might have been a disaster!!

We do hope that you will come back and visit us on another occasion

Sue arranged for us to have transportation from the airport straight to their B&B, which allowed for us to be stressful arriving into a foreign country. Peter walked out to greet us and showed us to our room. The room came with a fan, pastries, tea/coffee, and bottled water all were very appreciated especially the water since we were there during the hottest time of the year! Peter also prepared great breakfast selections in the morning and gave great advice for the main attractions in London. The location of the B&B was a nice contrast to the busy central city of London, it was only a bus stop away from a major tube station (very convenient). My husband and I would highly recommend this B&B we were very happy customers, thank you so much Peter and Sue!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and we are so glad that you enjoyed your 5 day stay with us. We hope you meant the minicab journey was stress free not stressful!!

It was an absolute pleasure having you to visit. We love having people to stay who like the little extras we pop in the rooms.

I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back one day if ever visiting London again.

Great location, great people and a swimming pool! What more could my family want when looking for a place to stay in London. My wife and I couldn't of been happier, my daughter loved the woods nearby and sue and Peter made are stay so welcoming we have already booked again. I would recommend the Forrest lodge as it offers something for everyone. Lets not forget those breakfasts!

Thank you so much for your super review, we really enjoyed having you to stay. Your daughter was fabulously well behaved, a real joy. So glad you enjoyed your trips to Legoland and Chessington, our children used to love visiting them when they were the same age.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back again.

pros
close to transport
peaceful and quite location
felt very safe in the area
friendly welcome (even gave us a lift into Wimbledon shopping area)
very good breakfast with lots of variety
nice touch with the cakes
comfy bed
very good conversations on a range of topics with Peter
cons
hall and stairwell lots of scuff marks and probably needs a paint to freshen it up
ripped curtains and lots of "stuff" visible in front room near main door
dining room a bit cluttered
no lounge area
not really what I would call luxury
having said this we enjoyed our stay in a very good B&B

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that the breakfast, bed and location were all positives. We have noted your comments about redecoration of the hallway which we will do in the winter as soon as we have all rooms empty as we cannot inflict the smell of paint on guests when they are staying, it is something we hate. We hadn't noticed that the lining of our curtails (in out own personal sitting room) had deteriorated in the sun and are grateful to you for pointing it out.

Regarding a lounge area, it is not a normal feature of a small London B&B but something you would be more likely to find in a hotel. The room you were staying in does have 2 comfy chairs and plenty of room to relax.

Also, we are a bit confused by your comments regarding luxury as we have never claimed to be a luxury B and B - we are a small family run English Bed and Breakfast in a home in a lovely area where we try to offer a friendly welcome and guidance to guests for their visit to London. We have received some wonderful reviews from other guests who have appreciated our home.

I stayed here for the Wimbledon tennis with my partner originally as our usual London hotel was fully booked, we were delighted to find this bed and breakfast in Wimbledon. I have been to Wimbledon a few times and this was defininitely the best experience as you are fully immersed in the atmosphere of the village. There are lots of local pubs and a few restaurants that are very good. Peter and Sue were very helpful and very attentive to our needs. The room was perfectly adequate and there was lots of choice at breakfast. The pool was an added bonus as it was quite hot during our stay. The house and surrounding area are lovely, I would definitely stay here again.

My family of four stayed at Forest Lodge for 4 nights as a quieter base for London area excursions. We spent one day shopping in Wimbledon Village itself - a few shops to take in, some are upscale. We also did day trips from here to Canterbury (a bit of a hike to get to) and Brighton (very easy and quick) - both by train.

The good things - lots of little touches in the rooms from the cakes and cookies (which made the day of my teens), coffee and tea and flowers. The rooms were clean and well kept and Peter puts a lot of heart into hosting and a lovely breakfast. The breakfast is a large range of options - the fresh fruit variety, little jams, butter on ice... it's very well done. The walk to the local bus takes you to either of 2 train stations (a short ride) and into Wimbledon and is all of 7 minutes walk at most. And it comes every 6-8 minutes. There are 2 fabulous pubs within 15 mins (a bit uphill on the way there, the good news is downhill on the way back of course!). The forest behind is a nice little walk, and yes, we got lost more than once and always ended up taking the long route. Still looking for the shortcut to the Village! Foxes were seen every night by the house, parakeets (local strays that have taken over) and just a peaceful ambiance. My kids used the pool which has to be booked with them as to get to it is through the host's house. They found it a great time and appreciated the pool toys.

The not quite so good - if you are wanting to use it as a base for travel, it is best for SW only area (Brighton for instance, which is a great day trip with quaint shops and of course the beach). But if that is what you are after, then this is a great option. Definitely recommend!

Room Tip: We stayed in the large family room - bunk beds, single bed and a queen. Bathroom attached with a gre...

What a great review, thank you. We enjoyed having your family to stay very much. There is so much to do and see in London it always amazes us when people come to stay in London but then decide to go on very long "day trips" to places which we Londoners would consider too far away for a day's outing. As well as the foxes and green parakeets we also get badgers in tis area and rabbits, it is being so close to Wimbledon common.

We chose this bed and breakfast, because it is very close to Wimbledon Tennis. When we came there, we found a very nice house with a small, but very clean and comfortable room. We had a separate bathroom opposite the room, which we had for our own. It was big and had everything we needed.
Breakfast was delicious, wide choice and fulfilled all our wishes.
Sue and Peter are very helpful and gave us a lot of tips how to get to London center and what to do.
if we will come back to London, we will definitely choose this bed and breakfast again.
