We had stayed there for a total of 9 nights . 5 to 11 November and 17 to 19 November . For our first 7 nights we were given a room on the 6th floor at the south part of the hotel . 2 single beds with worn out bed linen , (bed sheets with holes),an old fashion tv , bathroom with a shower attached on the wall indicating that it was placed there at a later time as an extra accessory , no hair drier (you could borrow one with a 20,00 pounds refundable guarantee) no shampoo and shower gel (you had to ask the cleaning staff for it).
The continental breakfast included in our rate was the worst we had ever had at a hotel of this class . The only fairly eatable food was their muesli if you could endure the cold milk on offer at 08,30 in the morning . The hotel staff mainly comprises of non English employees , where especially at the concierge desk (only male staff there) they were rude and hardly speaking any English . Things were better at the reception desk maybe due to the fact that the clerks were female, where especially on our last 2 nights we were given a much better room at the north part of the hotel which looked more to date than our previous one . Location and easy access to Oxford street as well as a direct line from and to Heathrow airport are among the advantages . Finally , even though there is a huge number of people moving about at the hotel's premises as a result to its size , the room areas are fairly quiet with the exception of the opening and closing doors sound from 7 in the morning when breakfast starts being offered .

This is a gem indeed. I had just been to a lecture at the London University when I happened to notice that at the the back of this very well-known hotel was a restaurant of some sort. We thought "nothing ventured nothing gained" and it seemed open to the public, I stepped in I'm ashamed to say for the first time after having lived in London for 50 years. I'm so glad I did. We passed a very laid-back and pleasant bar on our way to the restaurant.

This is the absolute ideal place for a casual eat. It is halfway between a works canteen and a Lyons restaurant if you remember that far back. The seating is casual, the service is buffet style and the value is excellent. for example you can load up a small plate with a mixture of meat and various salads for £3. This is unheard of in Central London. You can have a really good carvery for £9.50 and you can have a very good selection of sweet courses for £2.50. Good quality wine was available for £6 for half a bottle.

The great thing is that it is open until, wait for it folks, until 1:30 AM each morning.

It is an ideal place for a casual meal on your own, a business meeting or a tete a tete where the noise level is such a huge amount below that in the average West End pub that can actually hear yourself speak. I must also say the staff were very laid-back and friendly and glad to talk.

I did not stay at the hotel overnight so I cannot comment on that aspect of things.

We booked this break through superbreaks and was really looking forward to our theatre and shopping break. DON'T STAY HERE filthy, bug infested beds could actually feel them crawling on you in the night, stained sheets, hair in the beds and not from the head, stains on the headboards use your imagination. Windows you can't see out of because of the muck and don't close. Everything filthy. Now for the corridors, kicked in doors, wallpaper hanging off. Now for the breakfast YUK, couldn't attempt to eat it the sight of it nearly made me throw up. Rude staff. Really can't understand superbreaks using this hotel its not fit to keep animals in.

It was my fourth visit to London, and the third time to stay in this hotel. In the first couple of times, it was quite good, because i don't have high demands, but this time it was a real disappointment.
The room was nice and clean, but there were some problems in the maintenance. It took a long while for the light in the bathroom to start, and i couldn't close the bathroom door properly. It didn't bother me much because i was alone, but it doesn't show a high standard.
The hotel has great location but not much more than that.

I read some reviews before I left and was worried that My 4 nights stay will be unpleasant. However this hotel will guarantee me a room which will not be in the basement. Take note you guys... Don't expect any friendly staff or service. All rooms NO SMOKING. My room on the 6th Floor is decent. Ok for a single person but it is a twin room. Mattress is about worn out and you can feel the 'spring'. Toilet is small with a bath tub. 3 pieces of small soap. No shampoo. Towel is Ok. Breakfast cereal, juice, coffee, toast bread which can be cold. Take your own tray. Forget paying 5£ for English breakfast. Better to pay this at a nearby cafe where you at least get a smile or go to Blooms a pizza cafe get your coffee. Bacon n Egg Sandwich for the same amount and you get a smile and hey Wifi. To sum up this hotel is too popular with big groups in demand that they feel that they need not have to go extra miles in service for the guest. So if you want to stay here, because of budget and for it's location don't expect any service, Internet excess and just pray for a good room. Good luck.

Pros - Clean airy Room; Good Value for Money; great location; transport easily accessible
Cons - Hot English breakfast NOT included in price - extra charged - NEVER hot; Stingy with Tea & Coffee making provision in room; Insufficient privacy accorded by Housekeeping & Maintenance Staff - eg. Do not wait for guest to answer door [if they knock at all!] before barging straight in with their Master Key. Embarrassing & unnerving.

We booked this hotel as part of a rail and hotel package with Superbreaks.co.uk - a brilliant company to use by the way if you want amazing deals on both accommodation and travel.

The hotel is massive and very much a student/group touring hotel geared up for coping with large numbers of people travelling together but it's still great if you are on your own or as a couple. Our room was modest, en-suite and immaculately clean. We were offered the chance to request a quiet room when we booked, so did so, and received exactly that. Brilliant!

The hotel has a lot of facilities - ticket booking office, money exchange and a selection of different restaurants and bars. We had a deal included for a meal which we took in their Indian restaurant which is a buffet style arrangement but tastefully done and for the money the food was excellent. Its roughly £12 per person for 3 courses and they make the most amazing nan bread, cooked to order which is served directly to your table. Definitely worth trying and such great value.

Breakfast is a bit of a buffet cattle market, free-for-all. Our full breakfast was included in the price so you could enjoy a cooked breakfast of average standard, cereal, toast, fruit juices etc. Again, for the price you are paying you cannot complain.

The service was excellent and all of the staff polite and helpful.

In terms of location you are spoilt. A walk from Covent Garden and Theatre land and easy access to all of the main central London attractions. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a quiet room if you need your sleep or are an early to bed person. Rooms over lo...
