“The absolute worst hotel in London!!!”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Anyone who gave this hotel a good rating clearly must work for the hotel, if you can even call it a hotel. What it is in reality is a youth hostel and a terrible one at that. Buses pull up all day and night unloading its next load of kids who will further trash the property. The staff is rude and doesn't care in any way to please you. Customer service is non existent, they simply do not care. The rooms are dingy, the entire hotel is in need of painting and cleaning. They claim to have wi-fi, but it never worked the entire time we were there (5 nights). The free breakfast wasn't fit for human consumption, so our entire group of 43 people had to either go to Pret a Manger or Starbucks to pay additional $$ for breakfast. Believe me, it was money well spent. There's a man who works the lobby that treats guests like we were his prisoners, which we basically were. The noise level outside the windows was unbelievably loud. There is a bar and restaurant that faces one of the sides of the hotel and you hear screaming and bottles being thrown all night long. The only plus I can give it is the location as it's in Russell Square and by a tube station. I had a lovely maid who was very nice and should work at another hotel IMO and not that one. Other than that, it's horrific. There's not one person in our group who would ever consider staying there again. so what does that tell you? Thank God we went on to Paris and stayed in a lovely hotel next. It somewhat made me forget about that horrible hotel.

Me and my family was here in July 2014.
The reason i choose this hotell, was the location, right beside Russel Square underground.

Dont expect any luxury at all!
Many bus company's uses this hotell, and the only language you will hear is spanish or asian.
There where NO internett at the room, the only place having that, was in the lobby bar, who again was overcrowded. People where sitting on the floor. The hotell selfe didnt have, it was the Cloud internett that you find all over London.

The breakfast wasnt better, the only thing they where serving was egg and bacon, and some cornflakes. I think there must have been nearly 200 people at once eating there, at any time. We had trouble to get table to eat, and they also suddenly run out of coffie on both machine's, and they didnt make more.

The room was old, the bed and pillow was hard. The toilet was ok, but still old and tired. The sealing had black dots, I dont know if that was fongus or what it was, but the whole sealing was coverd with it.
The TV on the room didnt work. There where also NO air condition at all in the room, the window was open all day, But at night it was nearly impossible to sleep in the heat. You could easly hear noice and banging from doors in the hallway.

So paying nearly 700$ for 3 nights I would expect MUCH more! And I can say that next time I go to London, I will find my selfe another hotell!

I booked 2 nights here for quick stop over before paris. I would say i am glad is was only 2 nights. The hotel is very large and very busy. Check in took a while and the staff are very unhelpful and rude. Rooms are old but clean and decent size. Not very comfy to stay in but its a cheap hotel. There is no safe in your room to lock up passports as well as no wifi in rooms or hotel. Breakfast was ok. very large room and was hard to find a seat at times. The location is average with Russell square tube is just around the corner.
I would defiantly not recommend this hotel as there are better hotels you can stay in for same price.

The hotel needs some renovation but it is clean and very central in London.......zone 1 of the tube service....what's more is that it is very affordable given it is in London!! Breakfast is not so good.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms facing university are better

Okay so a review about the Royal National Hotel.
It is one tube away from kings cross pancreas station or about 15 Minute walk, you are best off getting the tube. It is 2.90 for a single or 8.90 for a all day pass that allows you to use the busses as well as tube which is very good if you want to explore.
The hotel was nice, very standard it was also very busy and on our second day we had to Que for breakfast for about 5-10 minutes.
On our first night the electric had went off in our room for 30 minutes, and when asked for an upgrade we were told we are in the best room.
The breakfasts are nice but it can be hard to find a table they serve breakfast from 7-10, drinks are expensive £4.00 for a Malibu and lemonade, £4.90 for a bulmers, (you can go to Tesco round the corner and get alcohol cheaper).
The hotel is a ten minute walk from oxford street, and one minute walk to Holborn underground where you can get the tube to anywhere which is handy.
The hotel was clean and tidy, you can leave your cases/bags before check in at 2.00 in a safe room and you can also leave them on the day you leave for 50 pence per bag.

Room Tip: We asked for a high floor in north tower, no noise at all. Although rooms can be warm as the windows...

When I checked in early I found the desk clerk to be very unknowledgeable about early checkins when asked what to do with our luggage. When we did check in with her she failed to give us adequate directions to our room and we realized that Sara Winchester laid out the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose in a more logical manner. Later that evening we found ourselves over the pub's smoking section and from the third floor we could hear the crowd and smell the smoke. Later that evening one person gave me attitude about moving making it sound as if it was a big inconvenience to her. I decided to go to housekeeping to have my remote control fixed and when I came back found a young Canadian at the reception desk who was more than willing to move my room to a quieter part of hotel. In this room the remote was not working as well. The room itself was adequate for what you pay but two nights later the toilet seat broke and when a housekeeper looked at it she said she would fix it the next day so we fixed it ourselves. The continental breakfast consisted of massive quantities of wheat and white toast thrown haphazardly on trays, only grapefruit and oranges a bunch of sheeple foraging from one section to another inconsiderate of manners. When a tour bus driver tells you he tries to avoid staying in this place you know it's below standards. I guess it's okay for large tour groups of young people but for couples find another place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask to not overlook the central courtyard.

Not a bad hotel, just a little bit noisy. It's good if you want a cheap accommodation.

The best thing about this hotel is that you have all amenities within short distance. Oxford Street is just few minutes away by walking.

However, it's always crowded with youngsters mostly, and there's never a quiet moment in the lobby area.
Rooms are just okay. The towels have a funny smell however they were never dirty. They are always cleaned, nothing to complain about that.

The breakfast - you have to go early because either you don't find bread or else you don't find nowhere to sit. Continental breakfast was fine.

The worst thing was however when we booked the transfer from the hotel to Luton airport. The hotel told us the price of the taxi and told us to pay him directly because they didn't accept the payment before the transfer. When he took us there, we were charged 50pounds more than the amount that the hotel told us. We were extremely disappointed!!

Room Tip: the first floor was like hell with the amount of noise. We had the laundry rooms just on top of us a...
