“Nice room, nicer location”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Stayed here last week of April for business and was generally satisfied. This was my third stay and the results have been pretty consistent. Good service, reasonable room for london standards, and very nice location. I also enjoyed a nice meal at the steakhouse in the hotel.

i would recommend this hotel for those interested in the Mayfair area, altho i think next time I will try my luck closer to work in Canary Wharf.

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for your post. I’m pleased you were generally satisfied with your stay and enjoyed your meal in our Brasserie restaurant. We do have an ideal location here at Victoria and Canary Wharf is about a 20 minutes on the Jubilee line from us. I do hope you’ll continue to stay with us here at The Grosvenor and hope to welcome you back soon.

With kind regards, Ian

My husband and I just returned from a weeks stay at The Grosvenor in London England. We had a wonderful time and the hotel was great.

First of all, it is connected to Victoria station which is a main train, tube and bus station so very easy for transportation. It is also very close if one is taking any bus excursions which depart from the Victoria Coach station, just a couple of blocks away.

We arrived on a Monday morning and after a tiring journey we were able to get our room upon arrival which was much appreciated. The hotel staff was all very helpful and pleasant and the gentlemen who worked the concierge desk were fabulous. They booked our show tickets, checked reservations, booked train tickets and were all superb.

Breakfast was included in our package and there was an extensive selection of hot dishes, cereals, fruit and pastries. All was good except for the service. Unfortunately, service was slow and at times we had to ask several times for toast, which came cold, and other items. We also had a light dinner before a show and again had to ask several time for desert so as not to be late.

The Asian restaurant in the hotel was very good with an extensive menu and again service could be better. But despite being a bit slow, everyone was always very polite and pleasant.

We had a double room which was a bit small and we could have used a bit more space for clothes storage as there are no drawer space but we managed. This is typical for Europe so it was not a big issue. The beds were very comfortable and Wifi is free all over the hotel. Rooms were cleaned promptly and turndown service always left chocolates and either a newspaper or magazine.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure as it's location is prime, close to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and a short walk to all the main attractions and two theatres.

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for taking the time to write your detailed review following your stay with us. Our key position adjacent to Victoria Station, home to the mainline railway line, Victoria bus terminals and underground connections, allows for convenient and unrivalled access to the capital as well as many London tourist attractions. I’m delighted that our Front Office team were able to accommodate you with an early check-in and our Concierge team were fabulous. We go out of our way to ensure that everyone has a stress free and enjoyable stay and I enjoyed reading your compliments which will certainly be shared with my team. I’m disappointed that the service you encountered in our food and beverage outlets was not as it should be, this will be addressed with my Restaurant Manager. I am however happy that you were pleased with our breakfast offering. For the extra comfort of our guests we have added mattress toppers to our Hypnos beds, I’m glad you found your bed comfortable and your room clean. We do have many different shaped and sized rooms here at The Grosvenor, due to the age of the hotel. Should you decide to pay us another visit please do let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate you in one of our larger rooms. Thank you for your recommendation and we hope you’ll stay with us again soon.

With kind regard, Ian

We are currently on a tour of Europe with the Globus tour company. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel room is a little snug compared to US hotels, but comfortable. It is a convenient location, close to parks, restaurants, shops, and theaters. The hotel is clean and the staff was very helpful and polite.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone.

Had amazing experience for the 3 days we stayed. The breakfast was, so nice waiters were very friendly, the only little bad bit i can point is the management clearly the guy didn't know how to manage his staff and wasn't friendly at all.. I was there in January for my birthday and the lady back then was very smiley and friendly. Overall totally recommended this hotel!

The breakfast was really good, great value for money. The room itself wasn't so big, but it was London, nothing in that price is big. It was clean enough.

May be a bit noisy coz it was right above victoria station, could hear the announcements being made but not very clearly.

The lobby of the hotel is very nice and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast room and coffee lounge but the rooms were very very small with 2 twin beds in their classic rooms. You must book a deluxe or higher for a king bed . Even though the rooms are suppose to be smoke free we had to keep our window open due to the smell of smoke in the room. No drawers in the room for our things so we lived out of our suitcases for the time spent at the hotel. The location is excellent right at Victoria station, great stores and so easy to get a bus to the theatre or Harrods for some shopping. The bellmen are extremely helpful and are always available .

Room Tip: Book deluxe or better

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for your post. I’m pleased you found our lobby to be nice and comfortable, I do however regret that you found your bedroom small. Our hotel was erected in 1862 and we do have a variety of different shaped and sized bedrooms. If you are visiting London again please do let us know and we will do our very best to allocate you one of our larger rooms. We do have a great location here at Victoria for shopping and two theatres that our right on our doorstep. I’ll certainly pass on your compliments to our Concierge team regarding our Bellman and I hope you’ll stay with us again in the future.
