“Really nice and comfy place.”
Reviewed 22 June 2012

I've been staying there for over two weeks now and, compared to other hostels in London, couldn't be happier.
I've tried out other places in between to get around a bit but always came back here.

Large rooms; hot, clean showers; free and reliable wifi in the common room, bar and bedrooms; free breakfast (it's not much but it's a hostel, so that's fine by me); free lockers (bring your own padlock or buy one at the reception); hot and cold food to order around the clock; bar (closes at 11pm), smoking area, beer garden (to open in July I've been told...); 5min walk to the underground station and bus station; convenience store, pharmacy and take-away close by; right next to the river Thames; quite a selection of books to read; free luggage storing; plug-adapters, padlocks and towels for sale at the 24h reception; hair dryer use for 1.-

The staff is very nice and extremely helpful. They treat you like a guest, chat to you, go for a smoke with you, help you if you need anything.

The common room/lounge is huge and very homey. I met a number of nice and interesting people from all over the world and wouldn't want it any other way.

Really really really soft beds... so after a few days you'll get slight back problems.
No chance to cook or store food, you can bring your own takeout or whatever food you bought home with you and eat in the lounge.
No washer/dryer... though there is a cheap laundromat and dry cleaning place across the street.
Quite far from the Central London... but you can take the DLR to switch to almost every underground with only changing once.
Family friendly (not really a downside of you travel with kids of course... but since I traveled alone I was a bit annoyed by the screaming) If you do visit here with your children, there is a variety of toys and child seats and stuff like that, so you should be satisfied :)

Room Tip: The showers on the 2nd floor are either really hot or really cold... I suggest you shower on the fir...

good location but some staff didnt seem to know much - i asked about transport n the guy actually did not tell me about the DLR stop!!! i stayed in hostels before so am aware of noise from other people but what kept me awake was a bathroom fan!! asked to move but was told full - even though i had a dorm to myself!! i agree with 101anonymous - staff didnt seem to care.

THIS HOSTEL HAS BEDBUGS!!! Having stayed at this hostel fairly frequently over the last few months, I never had any reason to be unhappy with it. However, I awoke one morning this week looking up at a bed bug and have a photo to prove it. I have since spent the week trying to avoid scratching the 15 or so bites which subsequently appeared over the following few days - characteristic of bed bugs. I told the reception who didn't seem to care and have sent 2 emails with no response. Disappointing. Definitely will not be returning.

Was a good quiet hotel in zone 2 London not fast from the island garden DLR stop.

The service was good and the weekday price price was very good and included breakfast which included toast, cornflakes, coffee and tea.

They don't have kitchen facilities but you get a half price drink on arrival and make good pizzas.

The shorts and toilets were clean and the round were clean and you have a small security locker.
Could do with some shelving for bags though.

All in all was a clean and quiet hostel.

- super clean
- free wifi
- free breakfast (bread, butter, jam, peanut butter, cereals, tea, coffee and THREE types of milk!)
- friendly staff
- 5min walk to the DLR
- 50m from the Thames
- near the O2 Arena
- walk to Greenwich through the pedestrian tunnel
- free lockers - though they take little more than a small laptop

- no TV in the otherwise excellent lounge
- no alcohol after 11pm in the bar :(
- no alcohol of your own on the premises
- no kitchen facilities - but pizzas they sell are nice and affordable
- no laundry - though the laundromat is at the end of the road

Room Tip: Best rooms have less bunks! Pricier!
