I stayed here with my girlfriend for a couple of nights last weekend to watch a show in the West End and do a bit of sight seeing. It's in a great location, a short walk to Oxford Street and various tube lines. The rooms were nice, clean but a bit on the small side. Corridors were very hot but the room itself did have A/C so this wasn't a huge problem. One of the lifts wasn't working due to maintenance so had to wait around on a couple of occasions but no big issue.

The experience here was mainly let down by the room service. On one of the nights we tried to order sandwiches after midnight but apparently ALL of the cold snacks were unavailable and we were offered to use a 'Chicago' pizza delivery service by reception who brought the menu to our room. We ordered something and they said it should take 40 mins....we waited over an hour but still had no pizza. We rang down to find out what was going on and the hotel said they would pay for it because of the delay and would find out how long it would be... another call back to say '10 minutes'. After another half and hour it finally arrived but concierge decided to bring the delivery guy in a motorcycle helmet up to our room with him to deliver the pizza and said 'do you still want this' with the pizza delivery guy expecting payment. Of course we were starving and tired by this point so just did it to avoid problems but then it was very frustrating to find it was cold and dry after that long wait and it wasn't free as promised! Not really what you expect from a 4* hotel like this, who should have been a bit more mindful of the situation considering it wasn't our fault they hadn't stocked food in and suggested using this dodgy pizza company. Be warned!!

Originally booking at other accommodation, but not recorded ,and fully booked when we arrived .so ,forwarded on to Fitzrovia, Felt hotel overpriced for size of room and quality of decor and furnishings ,bath to deep and if much older. Guest would not have been able to get out of it .Front desk staff ,English language barely competent ,had difficulty making self understood ,same with Dining room staff ,all very pleasant ,and tried hard ,but !Breakfast was however of good quality,I would not stay here again, the standard was not good enough for the price and much better is available ,in the area Denis M Henderson

I've read previous reviews that criticise the hotel for being old fashioned, but I think it is in keeping with the age of the building. It's nice to stay somewhere that has a bit of character rather than a standard bland look.
We stayed on the 4th floor which was very hot, even for me! We had to request a fan, which was responded to very quickly.
Our stay included continental breakfast, that we both agreed was more than adequate which includes sliced meats, cheeses and fish along with the usual pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt and juices. But not sure I would have wanted to pay £18 for it, separately. Full English would have been £24.
On another positive note the hotel was clean, tidy and the staff were courteous and pleasant. The room was small but had everything you would need, ie mini bar, iron/board, hairdryer and bathroom niceties.
On a negative, parking is a problem, can only park on the road between 8.30pm-8.30am otherwise there is a NCP almost next door at £36 for 24hrs - 2hrs is £11 and 4hrs was about £22, so no point moving the car between the road and car park because it's more expensive.
Hotel advertised convenient for local attractions but it's a fair walk to covent garden, Leicester Square, theatreland etc. you'll definitely need an internal SATNAV because there's lots of twists and turns! Great Portland Street station is just up the road but cost £17+ for 2 return tickets to Leicester Square. Decide to catch a taxi instead but was £11 one way!
Despite this, really loved the hotel and will definitely stay again.

I stay at the Grange Fitzrovia regularly and it's my "hotel of choice" when staying in this part of London. It's small, friendly and the staff always give you a warm welcome. The rooms vary in size and layout because they're part of an old building - some have more space than others. Certainly, they're not chic or boutique style, but they're always very clean and are well maintained. I really don't understand why comments say they're "tired" - believe me, I've been in far worse!

I have breakfast there regularly and although it's not the greatest, it is perfectly adequate and cooked to order (rather than sat on hot plates keeping warm for ages).

Check in is always very speedy and efficient and check out equally so. The lifts have always been brilliant for me and respond instantly when I call them. My only complaint is that it is very, very warm on the upper floors of hotel, presumably because there's no air conditioning and it's difficult to open the windows very far. But that aside, i find very little to complain about.

So thank you to the staff for making each stay personal and friendly. I look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms at the rear of the building - on the whole, they're quieter. The views aren't so great, but then this is central London.

We stayed here on our first night in London on our honeymoon. The staff looked after us extremely well! The location is sensational for seeing all the main sites. Good dinner options and pubs literally around the corner. Breakfast is ok but nothing special but overall it was a good experience.
