“Non-existing WiFi”
Reviewed 5 May 2012

Advertised as free wifi, but no connection at all, not even at the lobby. Really nice rooms, no breakfast room, and overall low value for money. Staff really friendly, but to no avail-

Room Tip: rooms in top floors (3-4) are newly restored, so those are the most modern.

Stayed one night at this hotel earlier this week. Hotel lobby and communal areas are a little dated and shabby. Expected my room to be likewise but was pleasantly surprised. Lower floor rooms all seem to have been recently updated. Work is continuing elsewhere in the hotel to bring all rooms and communal areas up to date. The only disappointment was that i only decided to stay at this hotel in the first place because they advertised that they povided free wifi and that it was available in all rooms. Unfortunately on the night of my stay this was not the case and it was not available anywhere. Hopefully they will rectify this because if they do I will consider staying there again.

Small tiny room, no remote control, physical phone but no phone connection. Advertised as free wi-fi but no signal. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night but the front desk person did not know how to switch it off and from midnight till 12.45am it was ringing. when i complained in the morning, the front desk person took offense. she said at least it got switched off. seriously, if you can't tolerate people making legitimate complaints, then you shouldn't be in the hospitality business.

My husband and i stayed here on a christmas shopping trip to London. We had stayed in Paddington a few months before and loved the area.We had passed Mina House a few times then and thought it looked nice from the outside...so after checking it online booked to stay.
To put it simply it was awful. The room was tiny, cramped, smelled of damp and the sheets had holes. The bathroom was horrible. The tv was from the 80s and just showed blurry chanels!
It was horrible.Pay 50 or 60 pounds extra to stay somewhere nicer!!!The loacation is good...but unfortunately thats it!!!!!

Room Tip: holes in the sheets!

I know you get what you pay for, but this was a bit like a cheap, shabby boarding house or hostel. The hotel would benefit by a total revamp and have a few decent sized, clean, well decorated rooms, rather than the many, small, dirty, shabby rooms they have now.
The staff were OK, but the reception area just looked really messy and unprofessional, a bit like walking into someone's oddly converted living room. The beds were a bit uncomfortable and you had to climb over the toilet to get into the very cramped shower.
Get the hotel inspector in to revamp/rebuild the inside!

The hotel is situated near Paddington Station, from here in a few minutes you can get to the famous tourist attractions of London. Within 20 minutes walk there is the shopping centre of London - Oxford Street. I don’t recommend the hotel in general, but specially anyone who are allergic to dust. Everything was covered in dust. The hotel staff restrict only to making beds, about cleaning you have to forget. Moreover 3 times I had to ask to provide the facilities: set for coffee/tee and hair dryer. On the hotels’ door there was notice "NO VACANTIES". It wasn’t the truth, because during my stay I noticed only two guests! The room I occupied was on the top floor on which leg narrow, dangerous stairs. The room was very modestly equipped and in addition dirty. Although I was in January the central heating didn’t work, as well as TV and night lamp. During my stay the room wasn’t heated at all ! The breakfasts are very simple and modest (4 toast per person) served in a small, unheated basement. The hotel does not have any advantages - there are better hotels at this price and this location. Good price for a standard room GBP 40 per night as the location of the center, but too exorbitant as the lousy standard of this place. In Germany, because of the standard, this hotel certainly would be closed.
