Travelodge London Liverpool Street

We stayed here as we attended a wedding nearby at Devonshire Square. Very convenient for the wedding and also the tube.
The room was clean and offered all the facilities that a travelodge normally does.
We got a really rate as we booked quite far in advance.
We left some clothing by mistake after checking out and only noticed a week later. We didn't hold out too much hope of getting the item back but contacted the hotel anyway. We were delighted because with little difficulty we managed to speak to a member of the housekeeping team and organised for the item to be posted back to us. It was speedy and seemed little trouble for the staff.
We would not hesitate to stay again.

Stayed here on business in May 2014. Paid £101 room only. Location is good and easy walking distance from Liverpool Street station.

Check-in was automated - just as well really as when I walked in, one of the guys behind reception walked off.

Room was very basic but clean. However, it was very warm indeed. No air conditioning and so the quite small window had to be open all night. Except it couldn't be as the hotel is above a large post office and a fairly busy street. Noise - banging of car doors, people walking around, vans being unloaded, etc - literally all night.

Breakfast in the morning was not impressive. No fresh fruit - just a few tinned peaches and pears. The 'hot' breakfast was lukewarm and very unappetising. One diner asked for fried eggs and was told that only the rubbery scrambled egg was available.

Paid by credit card but they could not provide a VAT invoice/receipt as "till doesn't print them". Staff lacked any empathy or sense of customer care.

Avoid. Much better elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ensure a fan is available

I wanted a place to stay in London that would be close to the attractions I was interested in. The Travelodge was in walking distance to some of the attractions and close by to the Tube for public transportation. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean.

Its been a long time since i've stayed in a Travelodge admittedly but i thought the room was lacking in certain facilities i have to say.
We arrived (very) early, even though had paid for early check in at 12noon we were there at 10am and thankfully were able to check in which was great, not so great was being asked if we had received an email about their lift issues.... we hadn't had anything and were told their lift was not working and that our room was on 5th floor.
We accepted this thinking we were young and fit.... but... after one day of sightseeing and then climbing the 10 flights (double sets) up to the room we quickly gave up and asked for a room on a lower level which they were able to do and simply moved our bags whilst we were out the next day.
The breakfast was hot and kept fresh, although over 5 days we were never once asked for our room number so could quite easily not have paid for the breakfast.. being honest souls this was done before we arrived but thought they would have checked.
The shower was disappointing on returning from long days out and about it would have been nice to have a more powerful shower and one that didn't fluctuate in temperature from cold to exceptionally hot.
There were 2 members of staff on reception who were very polite and professional and always had a smile and were happy to help.... the other end of the scale was shocking, 1 gentleman spoke very very little english and another, when asked about taxi's to The Shard asked me what The Shard was.....?!
Overall, it was a clean and comfortable bed and room. But there was no hairdryer in the room, the bathroom top was stained white and the shower as above... i just expected a little more...

Room Tip: If the lift is still out go for lower floors....

Very standard hotel and for those who travel a lot for business this is a plus factor: this means you know what you will get. This particular hotel has had for a long time problems with the lift but now the same has been replaced.
It is right in the heart of the City so if you are in London on business and you need to get to the City, this is the place to stay. Five mins walk from Lloyd's.It is clean but remember that to contain costs, you will not have any shampoo etc. in the bathroom.
The breakfast is slightly expensive but there are plenty of places there around to go to in the morning.
Easy links from Stanstead Airport, straight to Liverpool St Station and 5 mins walking to the Hotel. Very safe area.

Hotel is very handy for the city, it's almost under the Gherkin but why do they call it Liverpool Street? It's a 10 minute walk from Liverpool Street. Public areas look shabby and cluttered , there were 3 huge laundry trolleys at the bottom if the stairwell and the lift was not working. My room was adequate and clean with tea/coffee making facilities.
