“Clean, basic but hot! ”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

Stayed for one night with a friend. Room was fine, clean and had all the basics. The shower gel provided was of course tiny.

The nights sleep was not so good, it was a trade off between having the noisy desktop fan on to keep cool or opening the window to be woken by the sound of traffic. Ok for a night but for a little more money you can get much better places for a longer stay. The breakfast included was a bit of a joke though, a takeaway box with a yoghurt, juice, muffin and granola bar or cereal. Not very filling or healthy (full of sugar).

Can't really fault this hotel given the reasonable (advance) rate, which was very good for London. The room is fine with ample space, nice bed, and tea/coffee making facilities. It does get hot but a portable fan was included. The reception is a bit basic, with queues around check-in time and there is no luggage facility in case you have to wait (early check-in was not available when we arrived). Wifi is free for the first 30 minutes - we didn't try the paid option.

The surroundings are not very cheerful, but it's a short bus ride or a 15 minute walk to Clapham Junction.

The hotel was nice and clean, but there was no hot water for the first two days so we had to have a cold shower. But the staff were nice and friendly and also I had a nice sleep. The area was a nice place, and the staff was there to help if we need it.

The bed was comfortable and the room spotless
Wifi was unreliable
Breakfast box expensive and didn't bother with it
No aircon and the window opens but a fraction
Shower head is fixed - urgh
Shower curtain rather than door - double urgh
No plug sockets by the headboard - thankfully I had a long cable.
Staff were efficient but not overly friendly, I didn't mind this because I don't like the 'Americanisation' of customer service.
The overall decor and feel of the place is a bit dated, but it was extremely clean which made up for this. However, I suggest Travelodge think about renovating in the next couple of years.
For the price I paid it was good value, but only just.

Despite the unfavourable reviews on here we were well-pleased with our recent stay. (five people, three rooms).

Yes it was hot, too hot, and there was no air-con, but there was an effort to help with iced water at reception and a fan already in our room and on full blast. I don't expect air-con at the price I paid! And let's face it, it's hardly ever warm enough in England to justify it!

The room was clean, sheets clean, bed comfy; it was not too noisy, the shower was fine and basically we had all you need!

The location was pretty good, too. We were going to Olympia - just a short walk to Clapham Junction and two stops on the overground with frequent trains! Brilliant. Another time into the city - a fast ride by mainline train from CJ stn to Victoria, with trains every couple of minutes.

And in the Clapham junction area were plenty of nice pubs, food shops and local shops. We really enjoyed the cooked breakfast at the Falcon - a Nicholson pub!

And we will definitely choose this hotel again!

Room Tip: If it is hot, I expect some rooms are less of a sun-trap than ours was!

Blood stained duvet, hairs on bed sheet, poo stained towels, uncomfortably hot room with windows that barely open. Water too hot with pressure too low. Tatty carpet and dated tv. I know it's cheap but welcome to the ghetto. It would be difficult to find cheaper in London so close to the centre so work out what you need from your stay and if comfort is important must avoid here.

Myself, husband and 13 year old daughter stayed for 3 nights, reading some of the reviews about the traffic were off putting but after busy days sightseeing we slept really well..The room was nice and clean, bathroom was clean..It was warm in the room but we had a fan which we were happy with..Bus 44 goes from right outside the hotel, into victoria so we used that quite often. There are breakfast boxes available but we didnt bother, we just went to wetherspoons in victoria. We were very happy with our stay and would def go back.
