“Posh, perfect location”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

This was the most amazing location to stay at in London! Steps from so much - parks, shopping, quick cafes, and the tube.

The rooms were beautifully fitted out, but a bit on the small side. A large person might have a go of it, navigating the bathroom in the room we stayed in.

The staff were proficient and professional, and for the level of luxury, this property was a deal.

I stayed for 3 nights in the executive room. The price per night was 528 GBP + 5% accommodation service + 12.5% F&B service charge. The overall experience was very good although i was expecting more from such a luxury hotel. If it's your first time in London you will notice that 5-star hotels there are the equivalent to nice 4-star hotels in the US, Dubai, or else where. Quality is ok but i've been shocked at other 5-star hotels in London. So you really have to look around to find a decent 5-star hotel in London. The room was nice with a balcony although a bit small. The bed for me was the highlight as it was very comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom was nice too but very small. There's an exit that takes you to green park and it's within 2 minutes walking distance so that was very nice too. I only tried the breakfast there and it was good enough but it opens at 7 am. I had to leave early so i wished if the breakfast would have started at 6 am instead at the restaurant. They only left 1 complimentary bottled water and i was expecting more! Staff were very welcoming but i do have one complaint about them. I had booked one transfer to the airport and when i wanted to ask the reception about it in the last night they were confused and mentioned that they didn't see it. Two of the staff at the reception couldn't help so they called in the manager and he was able to see it quickly even though i thought he was not friendly at all. He asked me if i have used it already and of course if i have I wouldn't be asking! He didn't smile and he was almost rude i would say. What should have happened was the staff should have approached me to remind me that i do have a transfer that i can use and to ask about when i would like to use it and not wait for me to approach them. From such an expensive hotel the service should have been perfect and unfortunately it was not. I probably could return to the same hotel again though but the transfer issue might convince me otherwise, still i'm not sure about returning.
One major positive thing was that i didn't hear people talking from within my room like I did in other 5-star hotels in London!
So overall very nice hotel but not perfect service which you might expect from such an expensive luxury hotel.

I have stayed at other hotels in the same area, and so far this one is the best. It is small, charming, and the staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. I sat in the bar but did not eat - just enjoyed the conversation with the friendly bartender and relaxed. Highest marks all the way.

As we had won tickets for the Queen's Jubilee Concert a hotel had to be found and as the concert was all day at Buck House a hotel in St James was ideal.

The hotel is tucked away very near the Ritz on St James side and close to Jermyn Street and Fortnums.

It is an excellent business and leisure 5 star with great service. Nothing is too much trouble - including helping us with lots of luggage in the rain onto Piccadilly when all the road were closed for security on Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Whilst rooms are on the small side they are perfectly located with a very smart opulent bathroom.

Little extras include water and fresh fruit in your room.

Breakfast is lovely with a great selection of breads, fruits and cereals, cooked breakfast options were also good.

The location is awesome and well worth the extra cost for that and the service alone.

Room Tip: Because it is in a quite cul de sac all rooms are very quite and the location is superb

An excellent stay as always while at the St James. Rooms are charming and the staff are wonderful. A great value in London. Very well located and within easy walking distance to the best shopping and the sites.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the St Jamesl.

From our very pleasant check in with Ava to the many
helpful trip plans and tips from Tony, the attentive
service from the breakfast staff, the room service who
brought us fresh wine glasses, the maid service, and
the doormen who managed to find us a taxi in the midst
of a rainstorm, we were delighted with our visit. We
appreciated the breakfast food that was prepared for our early
departure. The Black Forest cake for our anniversary was
a very nice touch on top of everything else.

They made our trip one of the best we've had in years.

We recently stayed at the St. James Hotel and Club in London this past September and had a most wonderful stay. The hotel is situated just a few blocks from Picadilly and is ideally located for walking and shopping in Mayfair. Formerly a gentlemen's club built in the Victorian period the St. James has been recently updated and the rooms, the restaurant, and the other public areas are beautifully done. Comfort, excellent service, and exquisite dining are but a few of the wonderful qualities of this fabulous hotel. The staff is friendly and are consummate professionals. We highly recommend this hotel for a memorable visit to London.
