“Fantastic Meal”
Reviewed 29 December 2012

Recently dined at this hotel, and had drinks in the bar - fantastic experience. This is a high quality, high service establishment - somewhere to enjoy the finer things in life when staying in London.

Would highly recommend.

Stayed here as part of my wife's birthday weekend for the first time. What a find! A high quality hotel with great individuality. We chose the executive double room which was very comfortable and well appointed, the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The location of the hotel means that it is quiet at night, all making for a good nights sleep. A leisurely breakfast overlooking St James place in the cosy breakfast bar was followed by a pleasant morning walk through Green Park which can be accessed from the rear of the hotel. The staff at the hotel have the right mix of courtesy and friendliness, we were welcomed as first time guests and felt that the staff genuinely cared that we had a good stay. We didn't dine at the Michelin Starred Seven Park Place restaurant within the hotel, but will do so on our next visit. You will pay more here than somewhere like a Hilton, but you will get style, individuality and a beautiful historic location. Overall a highly recommended hotel. We will certainly be returning guests.

I am just back from another fantastic stay at the St. James Hotel & Club.

This hotel is the most consistently good hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. Upon my most recent visit, I was very pleased to have been upgraded from the Deluxe Suite that I had paid for to the Terrace Suite – a truly fantastic room with a vast outdoor space. My travel companion was very impressed.

The staff clearly takes tremendous pride in themselves as well as the hotel and works together as if they are family, which means at times their testiness between each other can be seen by the observant guest (which I find endearing actually), but which also means that they always work together and get whatever it is that the guest needs done.

I communicated with them in advance on restaurant bookings and such, which they handled with aplomb, and expressed no frustration upon my numerous adjustments.

Book without hesitation.

Room Tip: Splurge and book at least an executive room. Request a high floor.

This small hotel is tucked at the end of a quiet little street that is only two blocks from bustling Picadilly. It is near major attractions and shopping, and is a half-mile walk to Picadilly Circus and theatres. The bar is cozy and the food excellent. Staff are pleasant and helpful -- when a car I had hired failed to show up to take me to the airport, the hotel had another car there in 10 minutes. I paid 295GBP per night plus VAT and was upgraded to a King room. Rooms are exceptionally soundproofed, not large but extremely comfortable. This is not my usual London hotel, but I was impressed and pleased with the appointments and level of service. The hotel restaurant is terrific but there are other good restaurants in the area too -- the Wolesley on Picadilly for traditional fare, and Veeraswamy on Swallow Street off of Picadilly for outstanding Indian food. Fortnum & Mason is just a couple of blocks away as are a number of breakfast and coffee places. A lovely experience!

This is a beautiful small hotel situated in the best part of London. The service is among the best I have encountered. We booked an Executive Room but were upgraded to a luxurious suite - just a stunning space with a fabulous view of Big Ben from the lovely terrace. The breakfast (included in the weekend rate) was delicious and plentiful. My only complaint is that we weren't able to stay longer. I would enthusiastically return to the St. James's.

This charming, well-kept, boutique hotel offers a delightfully quiet location in the center of the action in London (an ideal location for runners or serious walkers: adjacent to the three best parks and The Mall -- one can cover miles in London without battling traffic or hoards of tourists!). I had a brief stay, but was treated like a valued guest from early arrival to late departure the next day (including very good breakfast service included in my room rate). Alex, the Doorman, is outstanding-- truly could not ask for better than Alex. My standard (Superior) room on the 5th floor was very well appointed, comfortable, and adequately roomy for a slim solo traveler; I would caution couples to get a larger/upgraded room (nowhere to put a second suitcase and space for only one chair in the standard/superior room). Bathroom was nicely detailed; the soaking tub was fantastic with plentiful hot water, plus a stand-up rainshower with good pressure (rare in a London hotel). The bed and linens were outstanding, even better than I have at home. Between the bed/linens, soaking tub, and the quiet location, I enjoyed the best sleep I've had in years. In all, a wonderful (too brief) stay. I recommend the hotel, and plan to visit again and again. My new favorite in London.

Room Tip: Rooms above ground level are best. Strongly recommend larger/upgraded rooms for couples.
