“24 hours of pure luxury”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

From the moment we arrived I felt nothing was too much trouble for me and my 12 year old son. The staff are world class and the hotel is just stunning. It's not large more boutique style and the decor is modern with a twist of traditional features. We were shown to our suite, via a private lift, and the bedroom did not disappoint. It was very spacious with a large bathroom with separate shower and TV in the bath(very helpful when you have a teenager who hates to bathe), separate lounge with desk area and mini bar and very surprisingly for London a large roof terrace with chairs and tables - a total surprise and the views are spectucular.
What really makes this hotel stand out is the quality, location but most of all the staff - nothing was too much trouble even taking us right to Green Park and directing us to Buckingham Palace.
Overall this is a super luxury hotel with outstanding staff who really will go the extra mile for you and your children - book via the small luxury hotels of the world web site to receive great offers and savings.

Room Tip: View of London then book the Westminister Suite

Near Piccadilly and Green Park station so very handy for business and leisure, this hotel is housed down a quiet cul-de-sac in a fabulous old building. The rooms are not huge but nice decor and great bedding. The staff are very keen to help, not cheap but good.

I am disappointed to have to give only 'average' for this hotel. The service from the staff was excellent and the hotel itself is very nice. I booked a nights stay as a birthday present for my mother and a day at the Chelsea Flower Show, I knew we would be tired and wanted a small and quiet hotel and this was a change to my usual hotel which I can find too large.
Unfortunately we arrived before the room was ready otherwise I would have asked to move earlier but we returned exhausted and my mother who is not very robust hopped straight into the bath before I realised the noise from outside the window, (air conditioning units from a neighbouring hotel) was very very loud. I could not move my mother, but the noise was unforgiveable for this price and level of hotel. The food was lovely in the restaurant and the breakfast nice, they did include breakfast as a birthday gift which was lovely, and beds were comfortable, but do ask for a very quiet room. Value for me is in getting some sleep, so I shall return to my usual hotel.

St. James's makes you feel like landed gentry from the moment you arrive. Friendly staff, with no pomposity or pretension, just courtesy. Both the junior suites and the executive rooms I have stayed in are luxurious & comfortable; obviously there is more room in the suites. The beds are excellent, and a yellow rosebud graced the black marble bath. Full English Breakfast is a feast and will carry you through to Afternoon Tea, with its tiered trays of tiny tea sandwiches & sweets. I love the location; pop out the back & there's the Park where you can watch baby ducklings learn to swim. The doorman will organize a taxi if you are going farther. I will be returning this summer; St. James's is exceptional.

The St James Hotel and Club is our favorite hotel in London. Always such a pleasure to stay there and to interact with their staff. On this trip... Dan (the doorman) was exceptional. Extremely helpful in directing us to some small, local, out of the way restaurants... and a perfect personality.

We couldn't ask for a better experience.

Now we can't wait until our next trip back to London......

Wow, just got back from a wonderful stay at St James Club. Its a hidden Gem in Central London.
I cannot believe we never used this place before.
From the moment you arrive the staff cannot do enough for you, they are simply outstanding and so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Its so close to everything, about 2 to 3 minutes to the Ritz and minutes away from Buckingham Palace.
Its location makes it special as although it's centrally located it's in a cul de sac where there is very little noise or disruption and no through traffic. The rooms are modern and beautifully presented, the beds so comfortable. The hotel is part of a chain called Althoff and there are beautiful paintings in the hallways and common areas.
There is a Michelin starred restaurant and you can have afternoon tea there if you fancied it.
I would like to pass a special thanks to John Hennessy, Alice Helm, Ava Batay-an and Cezery who made our stay very special! Nothing was too much trouble at all. The hotel offers a valet parking service which is very good.
We can't wait to return for another luxurious stay!

The staff is outstanding-- warm, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect- walking distance to theaters, shops and sights. On previous visits suffered the lovely but tiny rooms, so this time opted for a comfortable suite. Worth the extra cost.
